a substitute teacher was arrested after the incident at Valley High School. Re’Kwon Smith, 27, faces four charges including battery, interfering with a student attending school, assault of a student and a threat to a student.

The teacher is then seen standing over the student, hovering over him as the student holds his face. The teacher steps over the student and is seen walking away while a campus security monitor and students surround the student and pick him up off the ground. The student is conscious and as the student stands up, he points toward the teacher and says “you’re going to jail [slur]” while laughing.

Valley High School Principal Kimberly Perry-Carter sent an email to parents saying they were aware of the incident involving a staff member and a student and were investigating.

CCSD wrote the following statement:

CCSD does not tolerate violence of any kind. Violence in any form is unacceptable and goes against the fundamental principles of education and respect. Any altercation between a teacher and a student is thoroughly investigated, and appropriate disciplinary action is taken.

Re’Kwon Smith, 27, appeared in court Friday afternoon after his arrest Thursday. The fight was at Valley High School and was allowed to be released from custody Friday.

Smith was released from custody but ordered to stay away from the school and victims, Judge Daniel Westmeyer said.

His next court hearing was set for May 28.

I want to see the whole video before the teacher knocks down the kid.
We need to find out what "set the teacher off".

If the kid was doing something to the teacher (hit or shoved him) then the teacher should have pounded his butt.

A lot (not all) kids in school these days think they are so tough because when they do stuff, they are never punished. Bring back corporal punishment in schools and the young generation will get their s#it staightened out. Our high school had 6 teachers quit suring the year because of abuse from students that the superintendent refuses to address. 4 more are quitting at the end of the year.

I feel like being a teacher/police in the US is a very hard and complicated job.
