Just another in a long line of events that show us many things - including why to NOT trust our government, why the right to maintain and bare arms is not something to be taken lightly and why we should take history more seriously.

I wasn’t around then - but my old man was. Always talked about being in Germany for radio training preparing to go to ‘nam. His bunk mate had a sister who attended Kent and was at the rally taking place - when word made its way over there bunk mate tried to reach his sister and the family to make contact and couldn’t - went absolutely nuts and was never heard from again. He never said exactly what the guy did (or to whom) - but clearly was not good and likely was kept quiet within the military ranks - clearly they weren’t just letting people walk away with a discharge in those days.

Yes - it was not just a peaceful demonstration and no - I don’t think everyone was just sitting their quietly and peacefully that day - but for a government to turn its troops on its people is a momentous occasion that should never be forgotten. That day changed the minds of a lot of people who otherwise thought we were doing the right thing.
