I know people get worried when bringing up the issue of right to bear arms and justice system etc, but citizens worldwide really need to re-evaluate how much of our responsibilities do we surrender to the governments.
I taking about care and custody of our children, in the sense that the government forces our children to go to their government schools for however many hours each day to learn what the government wants them to learn so the government can mold them into what the government wants them to be molded into...most parents are just happy to pass off responsibility of their kids daily to the schools...
The authority of individual families is another responsibility eroded by the government...children are taught that government/teachers/police are the supreme authority in their lives instead of their parents being their supreme authority...
Another responsibility surrendered to the governments is the right to vengeance, I know everyone likes to dream about the day when the government will deliver a perfectly peaceful environment where nothing bad ever happens because the police are keeping everyone safe - but the reality is that the more authority we give away, the more that those with authority over us will abuse the power we have given them.
I don't have any perfect alternative solutions, but I know that neither does any the world governments, but I think it starts with taking back the freedom to choose in every aspect of our lives back from the governments - choosing whether or not I'll send my kids to school, choosing whether or not I want the police involved in disputes, choosing for ourselves how to solve our own disputes...because I'm sure most of the parents are going to want to kill these rapists, and whether or not the rapists are killed should not be up to the government to decide...the right of vengeance is up to those who were harmed to decide whether to forgive or forget or hold a grudge etc.
