Yeah. Its dropping pretty steadily.

Rig count has nearly doubled in the last year as oil fields continue to recover from the Covid mess and with higher oil prices it become profitable to do so.

Also, refineries have increased gasoline production almost to pre-covid levels of ~9.4M bbl/day average which is really surprising with the permanent shutdown of several refineries over the last few years.

Gasoline futures continue to project a downward trend.
  • 1st chart - RBOB is the wholesale price of gasoline. Peaked ~ 6/6/22 at $4.26.
  • Table below shows FUTURES RBOB contracts pricing. The longer out the futures the cheaper the price due to uncertainty in the market the further out you look but, you if you look at upcoming months, Aug/Sept/Oct, they are much lower than the current RBOB of $3.22.
Price at the pump is, on average across the US, $0.70 more than RBOB. Varies by state.
Again, everything can change overnight depending upon world events.
