We just had our "July 4th" BBQ over lunch.

Family and friends stopped by for early lunch on their way through town. We had BBQ chicken, Silver Turtles, cake, and ice cream. Everyone has left already. They had to hit the road to make it home tonight. Sorry. No pics. Wasn't thinking about posting them. :duh:

Never heard of a silver turtle . 🤔
Its a boy scout thing.... Easy to make veggies and tastes great. Serves 10 easy.

  • Cut up 4 cups potatoes, 2 cups carrots, 2 cups celery, and 2 cups onions into cubes. Add extra of whatever you like.
  • Put all of it in microwave dish with 3 tablespoons water and heat slightly for 6 minutes. Gets the veggies a little hot but not 100% cooked.
  • Drain and add seasonings (salt, pepper, italian seasoning, etc...).
  • Pile the veggies onto the center of a large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil. Add 3 tables spoons of butter cut up into smaller pieces and spread out over the pile. Add 6 cut-up strips of precooked bacon (I usually skip the bacon and just add a tablespoon or two of bacon grease for really good flavor).
  • Fold the foil up into a turtle shell looking thing (double roll-seal the edges) and leave some air space in the shell for expansion. Then grill for 30 minutes.
Easy peasy veggie dish.

Sounds really good , it’s a camping thing that’s why I didn’t know what it was.

Have a great 4th !
