I had a roommate and we split rent. He was short a few months so I covered for him. He promised to pay me back.

He had a great job and was making good money but he pissed it away on partying and women a lot. One day he never came home. He, left a bunch of worthless crap in the apt, took off and started over in Mexico. I'm thinking he got a chick knocked up (unconfirmed).

Never paid me back $3k.

I only "loan/give" money to family and only immediate family (siblings, parents, my kids,....).

He wrote me a bad check from an already closed account and asked me to Western Union him some of the money. The check cleared right away from my bank and I was able to withdraw the money but then a few days later it bounced. Classic scam but I was too trustworthy and didn't realize the scam at the time
