However, unlike Malott, Lainesse is all about his hands and will own a significant advantage in the striking area of this bout. It’s his path to victory, and with a touch of death style of punching power, he owns the tools to cause an upset.
Malott
With a fight card stacked with DWCS alums, Mike Malott (8-1-0) will be one of the rare competitors defending a 4-fight win streak after stopping Mickey Gall via strikes in his 2022 UFC debut.
Malott is an elite Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who’s displayed a high level of offensive grappling during his pro-MMA career and still competes in regular grappling competitions. And this weekend, should the fight hit the ground, you can guarantee a submission finish isn’t far away.
Lainesse vs. Malott: The Prop Bet
Canada goes to battle when Lainesse and Malott meet in the cage this weekend. While they share the same nationality, from a skill set standpoint, they are worlds apart.
Training out of Team Alpha Male, the rumors from trainers and fellow fighters is that Malott is one of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners in the gym. This has been backed up with seven first-round stoppages, and we shouldn’t be surprised to witness another stoppage from Malott at UFC Vegas 70.
