Roman Dolidze vs. Phil Hawes

UFC Vegas 63 Middleweight Bout

Dolidze vs. Hawes: Analysis

Roman Dolidze (10-1-0) has found much success since joining the UFC roster in 2020 after winning four of his scheduled bouts to date. Yes, the level of competition hasn’t been the most formidable.

Still, a recent round one stoppage over Kyle Daukaus proved that this 185lb muscle-bound Georgian shouldn’t be underestimated in fight-ending power.

Phil Hawes (12-3-0) also boasts a 4-1 record since arriving on the UFC middleweight roster, and likewise, he owns a fight-ending amount of power in his fists, as we witnessed during a round two knockout over Deron Winn last time out.

Hawes stems from a background in wrestling, and it’ll be interesting to see if these sluggers will relinquish a slugfest approach and attempt to test their grappling skills.

Dolidze vs. Hawes: Betting Picks and Odds

The striking combinations of Hawes are significantly more notable, as Dolidze tends to throw 1-2 combinations and reset. That said, it’ll only take one clean shot from the Georgian, as he boasts a level of power that can instantly end a fight.

Hawes's traditional collegiate wrestling style will provide intrigue when matched with the unorthodox grappling background of Dolidze, which primarily focuses on trips and hip-tosses. I expect Hawes to own the grappling advantage, and when a fighter (Dolidze) likes to throw up leg locks, red flags are waved.

A wise man once told me never to trust a fighter who gives up position by attempting leg locks. The available UFC odds with top-rated sportsbooks favor Hawes, and the line movement has heavily shifted from its -115 opener.

I believe Hawes owns the technical striking, wrestling, and cardio advantage. Dolidze isn’t an easy outing, but I expect the more technical fighter in Hawes to end the fight with his hand raised.

Chase Hooper vs. Steve Garcia

UFC Vegas 63 Featherweight Bout

Saturday, October 29, 2022 - 05:00 PM EDT at UFC Apex

Hooper vs. Garcia Analysis

23-year-old Chase Hooper (11-2-1) is evolving fight-to-fight, and it’s difficult to ignore his three UFC successes that have all ended inside the distance.

He currently owns a 3-2 promotional record, but his most recent bout with Felipe Colares showed us an evolution in the striking output for a fighter most known for his jiu-jitsu background.

Steve Garcia (12-5-0) is somewhat of a gift for the UFC’s young prospect, but he can certainly act as the spoiler this weekend.

With a 1-2 UFC record, Garcia hasn’t wowed up during his big stage tenure, losing a lopsided decision to Luis Pena and a knockout from Maheshate, but a powerful striking output has the chance to cause some problems.

Hooper vs. Garcia: Betting Picks and Odds

A notable striking offense for Garcia will be the gameplan; the problem is, he’ll have to implement this against a heavy grappling pressure that Hooper effortlessly delivers.

I don’t envision a world where Hooper doesn’t drag this fight into his world, and should the youngster find himself in the top position; it will be another fight-ending performance for the curly-haired babyface.

The UFC odds with Bookmakers Review position Hooper as one of the highest betting favorites on the card. Considering he owns the most domineering skillset of the two, I will not argue this price.

UFC Vegas 63 Parlay Prediction 2: Hooper to Win (-275) at Bovada
