The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Apex in Vegas for a highly stacked fight card this weekend.
Rodrigo Nascimento vs. Tanner Boser
UFC Vegas 60 Heavyweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, September 17, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at UFC Apex
Canada’s own Tanner Boser (20-8-1) will be looking to extend his most recent stoppage against Ovince Saint Preux into consecutive wins on his record when meeting with a dangerous Brazilian. Still, it’s been a while since we’ve seen him compete in the octagon.
Following a 15-month layoff, “The Bulldozer” is known for his volume striking, and he can deliver a fight-ending punch when combining his output with power.
Rodrigo Nascimento (8-1-0) was flying high as an undefeated heavyweight. Still, once he reached the elite level of UFC competition, it became evident that he wasn’t quite ready for the upper echelon of competitors.
However, growth is a beautiful thing, and while he trains at American Top Team and is just 29-years-old, the future of Nascimento is still unknown, and he could undoubtedly become a top player before the end of his career.
Nascimento vs. Boser: Fight Breakdown
Varied combinations with kicks and punches and the occasional haymaker for good measure, Boser's game plan isn’t a secret. He isn’t going to enter the cage on Saturday as a completely new fighter, but his fundamentals are solid and trustworthy against a certain level of competition.
Nascimento falls into that particular competition level, but the Brazilian is likely to come out guns blazing. It’s a problematic outcome to envision, as I believe Nascimento’s approach to round one will dictate the winner.
With that said, I don’t expect this contest to reach the judges’ scorecards. Nascimento will finish the fight early, or Boser’s gruelling style will eventually drain his opponent's cardio, leading to a late stoppage for the Canadian.
Nascimento vs. Boser: Odds and Prediction
The UFC odds with top-rated sportsbooks are supplying -170 on this fight ending under two and a half rounds.
These heavyweights have a significant amount of stoppages on their record to justify wagering on this price tag.
Mariya Agapova vs. Gillian Robertson
UFC Vegas 60 Women’s Flyweight Preliminary Card Bout
Saturday, September 17, 2022 - 06:00 PM EDT at UFC Apex
If it’s exciting fights you’re looking for, look no further than the highlight reel of Mariya Agapova (10-3-0).
While some will scrutinize her technicality, there’s no denying her heart and willingness to engage in a war once the octagon door closes.
Born and raised in Kazakhstan, the 25-year-old has yet to reach her prime fighting years, and she undoubtedly possesses the warrior spirit of an MMA competitor who could survive the test of time on the UFC roster.
Gillian Robertson (10-7-0) is another youthful female on the UFC roster, but she notably owns a significant experience advantage over her Saturday night opponent.
Having competed in the UFC since 2018, four years and eleven UFC bouts later, Robertson has been through the wringer at such a young age of 27.
Agapova vs. Robertson: Fight Breakdown
As a complete mixed martial artist, I’m likely to favor Robertson in walking away with the victory; however, Agapova presents a level of aggression that can go either way.
When you realize that Agapova has seen the judges’ scorecards on just three occasions from her 13-fight career, her kill or be killed attitude comes to light.
With that said, despite her notable finishing/get-finished professional record, there will come a time when Agapova realizes that she needs to slow down.
Robertson is often grappling heavy; this game plan would undoubtedly slow the fight down, causing the over to be a tempting wagering position.
Agapova vs. Robertson: Odds and Prediction
The UFC odds with Bookmaker Review are supplying -135 on Robertson to take the victory, but the over 1 ½ rounds at -150 isn’t a price we get the chance to take in the women’s strawweight division often.
I understand the risk of Agapova’s reckless abandonment and betting the over.
Still, I believe that Robertson’s style can severely slow this fight down and give us an extended time in the octagon than what we’re used to seeing from Agapova.
