Back in Las Vegas this weekend for another show-stopping card for UFC Vegas 57. There are many rising contenders on this card that have the potential to rise through the ranks fast, and also contenders that are in need to prove their worth.

This weekend, I’m keeping a close eye on JP Buys vs. Cody Durden and Neil Magny vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov. Read below for my best bets

JP Buys vs. Cody Durden

UFC Flyweight Preliminary Bout

Saturday, June 25, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at the UFC Apex

JP Buys Analysis

JP “Young Savage” Buys is a professional mixed martial artist fighting out of Las Vegas Nevada with a professional record of 9 wins (3 T/KO, 5 Submissions, 1 DQ) and 4 losses (2 T/KO, 1 Submission, 1 Decision).

Buys is currently 0-2 in his UFC career with 1 T/KO and 1 Decision loss. His five fights prior were all won inside the distance. His path to victory against Durden would be to bring the fight to the ground and secure a submission.

Cody Durden Analysis

Cody Durden is an American mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 12 wins (5 T/KO, 5 Submissions, 2 Decisions) and 4 losses (3 Submissions, 1 Decision).

Durden is 2-2-0 and 1 Draw in his last five bouts. His path to victory will be to keep this fight standing as he often struggles on the ground. His last two losses were by submission in the first round.

UFC Vegas 57 Odds

Currently, JP Buys is the slight favorite at -115 and Durden -105.

I think the UFC odds are fair, however, when you look into the weight class history between these fighters, you would understand why I am siding with Cody Durden.

Buys vs. Durden Betting Prediction

JP Buys has the potential of gaining his first UFC victory on Saturday night. All he has to do is get the fight to the ground, scramble, and secure a submission.

However, Buys has always struggled in the flyweight division and has also admitted it. And this weekend, he is back at flyweight where I feel he will struggle once again.

Durden should be able to keep this a standing bout. His striking and power will outshine Buys’ and he will become victorious in the end.

Neil Magny vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov

UFC Welterweight Co-Main Bout

Saturday, June 25, 2022 - 10:00 PM ET at the UFC Apex

Neil Magny Analysis

Neil “the Haitian Sensation” Magny is an American mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 26 wins (7 T/KO, 3 Submissions, 16 Decisions) and 8 losses (2 T/KO, 4 Submissions, 2 Decisions).

Magny is a well-known UFC Veteran fighting since 2013. He is a technical and durable fighter, as seen in his 16 decision victories.

Shavkat Rakhmonov Analysis

Shavkat “Nomad” Rakhmonov is a Kazakh mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 15 wins (8 T/KO, 7 Submissions) and no losses.

As seen in his record, Nomad has finished all of his opponents in his professional career inside the distance. He is a very sharp and technical fighter while also being able to scramble on the ground.

UFC Vegas 57 Odds

Your top-rated sportsbooks currently list UFC odds for the rising contender Rakhmonov as the highly juiced -450 favorite. His overall fight instincts have been unstoppable in all departments, standing and on the ground.

The veteran Neil Magny is the +350 underdog, and he honestly holds a lot of value. Magny is the type of fighter that will make it tough for Rakhmonov to have his way. If Magny controls the pace, then this is his bout to take home.

Magny vs. Rakhmonov Betting Prediction

Magny’s reach advantage should help him keep his opponent at bay and keep this bout a technical one. But with patience, Rakhmonov will be able to find his openings. He is agile, and if he is able to succeed in bringing the fight to the ground, he will wear down on Magny.

Although it’s highly anticipated that Rakhmonov will finish this fight inside the distance, Magny has not been finished since 2018.

Pressure will be applied on both ends, but the durability of Magny will help bring this fight to the cards.

Magny has a few split decision wins under his belt, but this time, I give a split decision win to the rising, highly skilled contender Shavkat Rakhmonov.
