Joaquin Buckley vs. Nassourdine Imavov

Middleweight Preliminary Card Bout

Saturday, September 03, 2022 – 01:25 PM EDT at Accor Arena

Fighters Analysis

Joaquin Buckley

Following his losing UFC debut bout versus the formidable Kevin Holland, Joaquin Buckley (15-4-0) provided fight fans with a jump spinning back kick knockout that will forever live on in the promotions highlight reels.

Power, aggression, and composed striking technique have now assisted Joaquin Buckley in finishing four of his UFC victories via knockout or technical knockout.

Aged just 28 years old, this St. Louis, Missouri representative has proved himself as a potential middleweight contender of the future.

Nassourdine Imavov

Nassourdine Imavov (11-3-0) is a Russian national fighting out of France, so don’t be surprised if the crowd is in support of the MMA Factory product this weekend.

Location and heritage aside, Imavov is a 3-1 in the UFC, winning his previous two appearances via TKO, where he’s enjoyed utilizing a grappling offense to secure the opposition in a ground-and-pound position.

Buckley vs. Imavov: Fight Breakdown

As a complete mixed martial artist, it’s no surprise that Imavov is the betting favorite. However, Buckley has proven time and time again that his brute force cannot be underestimated.

I expect a head-hunting approach from the American, and Nassourdine Imavov will undoubtedly be searching for a finish of his own in his return to France.

While it’s a difficult fight to put faith in a clear victory, there are two outcomes I expect:

  • An early stoppage due to the punching power of Buckley.
  • A late finish from Imavov once Buckley’s cardio has begun to welt.

Buckley vs. Imavov: Odds and Prediction

The UFC odds with our top-rated sportsbooks are surprisingly offering some respectable betting value on this fight to end inside the distance.

Considering both fighters are proven finishers, I’m comfortable backing this contest to end within the fifteen-minute time limit.

Benoit Saint-Denis vs. Gabriel Miranda

Lightweight Preliminary Bout

Saturday, September 03, 2022 - 01:00 PM EDT at Accor Arena

Fighters Analysis

Benoit Saint-Denis

Born and raised in Paris, France, Benoit Saint-Denis (9-1-0) will return to his home city for the first time during his short UFC career.

With a 1-1 record, his beginnings didn’t begin ideally as Elizeu Zaleski snapped his unbeaten streak.

However, Saint-Denis returned in fashion with a second-round rear-naked choke victory over Niklas Stolze.

Gabriel Miranda

Representing Brazil, Gabriel Miranda (18-5-1) will make his promotional debut on Saturday, and it won’t be an easy task when stepping into the backyard of Saint-Denis.

The former Brave CF competitor is known for his Brazilian jiu-jitsu skillset, but he’ll need to bring his A-game to overcome the solid grappling base of his opponent.

Saint-Denis vs. Miranda: Fight Breakdown

The main concern for both fighters in this meeting should be the high level of submission finishes they’ve equally achieved during their professional careers.

Will their BJJ offense become nullified? Or does this increase the likelihood of a submission finish?

Reaching the judge's scorecards hasn’t been typical for Saint-Denis or Miranda. Still, if both men struggle to find a submission stoppage, I expect the Frenchman to own a significant advantage in a striking exchange.

Saint-Denis vs. Miranda: Odds and Prediction

The available UFC odds with Bookmaker Review favors home-city fighter, but the Saint-Denis moneyline isn’t the bet I’m looking to make because -275 is quite steep.

I do, however, believe this fight isn’t going to survive the test of time.

The under 1½ rounds make sense, as Miranda could be completely outmatched amongst the UFC lightweight roster.

The Brazilian doesn’t own the greatest high-level experience, while Saint-Denis already has his foot in the door. An early stoppage could be on the cards with a home crowd in support.
