Azamat Murzakanov vs. Jared Vanderaa

UFC Heavyweight Bout

Saturday, December 4, 2021- 9:005 PM EST at the UFC Apex Center

Russian prospect Azamat Murzakanov (10-0-0) secured his position on the UFC roster when brutally knocking out his opponent on Dana Whites Contender Series twelve weeks ago. With his promotional debut set in the heavyweight division, many questions loom his ability to compete in this weight class.

Still, a closer inspection reveals that Murzakanov has been beating on the larger fighters his entire career. Murzakanov is a Master of Sport in hand-to-hand combat. Despite arriving in the UFC aged 35, he was initially scheduled to join the promotion in 2017 before an eventual drug test failure prevented him from doing so.

Jared Vanderaa (12-6-0) is another Dana White Contender Series alumni. Still, with three UFC bouts on his record, two ground and pound stoppage losses haven’t delivered the ideal beginning to his UFC tenure.

Murzakanov vs. Vanderaa Fight Breakdown

The Russian will suffer from a severe size disadvantage, but when you’ve spent the majority of your career fighting larger men and knocking them out, I can’t envision this troubling his well-rounded skill set.

Between Murzakanov’s light-footed movement, excellent combinations, powerful strikes, and notable wrestling offense I don’t see a path to victory for Vanderaa outside of holding his opponent against the cage.

UFC in Vegas 44 Prop Betting Picks and UFC Odds

The available UFC odds with Bookmaker Review are moving in the opposite direction to what I expected. Murzakanov opened as a -350 favorite and can now find his odds around the -200 mark. I believe the betting public is fading him based on the size discrepancy, but my faith lies with the heavy-hitting Russian making a statement in his UFC debut.

Cheyanne Vlismas vs. Mallory Martin

UFC Women’s Strawweight Bout

Saturday, December 4, 2021- PM EST at the UFC Apex Center

Cheyanne Vlismas (6-2-0), formerly known as Cheyanne Buys, will enter the UFC octagon for the 3rd time this year, displaying her background in karate and taekwondo whilst splitting her bout outcomes 1-1.

Mallory Martin (7-4-0) has undoubtedly fought the stiffer competition since joining the promotion in 2019, but with two stoppage losses and a lack of octagon activity, knowing where her current placement stands within the division is tough to gauge.

Vlismas vs. Martin Fight Breakdown

UFC matchmakers have gifted us with a classic striker versus grappler bout, and it’s the one-dimensional style of Martin that will be seeking a wrestling approach.

Vlismas is predominantly a striker, but her taekwondo background does present strong hips; whether she can handle the traditional wrestling style of Martin is yet to be seen, but the ceiling for Vlismas is significantly higher, in my opinion.

UFC in Vegas 44 Prop Betting Picks and UFC Odds

The available UFC odds with Bookmaker Review favor Vlismas but -180 doesn’t fulfill my wagering needs. I anticipate a one-sided striking masterclass from the betting favorite, but I can’t envision a stoppage.
