Brian Ortega vs. Yair Rodriguez
UFC Featherweight Main Event Bout
Saturday, July 16, 2022 – 04:15 PM EDT at UBS Arena
The former UFC featherweight title challenger Brian “T-City” Ortega (15-2-0) returns to defend his No.3 ranking in an attempt to put himself right back into the title picture. And given his performance versus Alexander Volkanovski back in September of 2021, I wouldn’t complain if the UFC ran that fight back.
Ortega stems from a background in Muay Thai, and his jiu-jitsu skillset is also second to none. This has created a complete fighter who owns the toolbox to cause any top-ranked featherweight a problem once the cage door closes.
There’s one problem with Yair Rodriguez’ (13-3-0) UFC tenure thus far: we just haven’t seen him compete as much as we’d like.
With an unorthodox striking style that’s difficult to replicate in the gym, Rodriguez never fails to put on a show for the fans.
UFC Fight Night Parlay Prediction
Spinning elbows, kicks, and an unpredictable striking offense will always be a concern if you’ve placed a wager on an opponent facing Rodriguez. However, Ortega’s heart and determination to be the best 145lb fighter is something that can’t be taught.
I believe Ortega can hold his own in the stand-up area while causing Rodriguez a world of problems should this fight hit the ground.
The available UFC odds at our top-rated sportsbooks favor Ortega, but the available moneyline odds on the favorite are a gift, in my opinion, whether you want a juicy parlay or to play this line as a single.
Punahele Soriano vs. Dalcha Lungiambula
UFC Middleweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, July 16, 2022 - 01:15 PM EDT at UBS Arena
Punahele Soriano (8-2-0) has stumbled in his most recent outings, suffering his first-ever professional MMA career losses.
Before these losses, Soriano showed zero hesitancy, as his style of swinging for the fences always seemed to pay off with success.
Dalcha Lungiambula (11-4-0) is similar to his weekend opponent because he’s built a career around throwing everything into his striking output.
He’s also riding a two-fight losing streak, but Lungiambula isn’t as technical, and the level of competition in his losses hasn’t been as noteworthy.
UFC Fight Night Parlay Prediction
Can the product of Xtreme Couture balance his aggression and cardio? If he can, I struggle to envision a world where Lungiambula can cause the 29-year-old any issues in the stand-up area whatsoever.
We could witness a very short fight if these men opt into a slugfest. However, when we judge the overall MMA skillset of both men, there’s no denying that Soriano is the a-side as the more technical striker.
The available UFC odds favor Soriano as the third biggest betting favorite on the entire fight card, priced at -240. I wouldn’t touch this price as a single wager, but I’m confident that Soriano's skills can juice up our punching parlay and give us a comfortable return on our investment.
UFC Fight Night Punching Parlay
- Ortega Wins (-165)
- Soriano Wins (-240)
