For this weekend’s fight night, we head up to New York for UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs. Rodriguez! These two ranked featherweights will headline what will be an entirely thrilling card. This main card will be an early starter, but it will be worth it.
Throughout this entire card, we have a couple of veterans facing off against some rising contenders so why not go ahead and share my betting picks for those.

Shane Burgos vs. Charles Jourdain
UFC Featherweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, July 16, 2022 – 02:00 PM EDT at UBS Arena
Who Is Shane Burgos?
Shane “the Hurricane” Burgos is an American mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 14 wins (5 T/KO, 5 Submissions, 4 Decisions) and 3 losses (2 T/KO, 1 Decision).
Burgos is a gritty, volume striker with a striking accuracy of 52 percent. He also has a tough takedown defense and has never been submitted in his professional career.
Who Is Charles Jourdain?
Charles “Air” Jourdain is a Canadian mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 13 wins (8 T/KO, 4 Submissions, 1 Decision), 4 losses (1 Submission, 3 Decisions), and 1 Draw.
Jourdain is an exciting and unpredictable striker. He has well-mixed combinations and has shown to have good cardio. Although Jourdain has a lot of power in his fists, he is 49 percent accurate. Air has never been knocked out in his professional career.
Burgos vs. Jourdain Fight Odds
- Shane Burgos -175
- Charles Jourdain +150
Burgos vs. Jourdain Betting Prediction
For me, I’m sticking to the New York native Shane Burgos. He is 6-0 in his hometown and has a nice 6-inch reach advantage.
To add on top of Burgos’ comfort zone, his high volume striking and speed will make it harder for Jourdain to find the perfect opening. You know he’s going to be hunting for a knockout finish against the legendary Shane Burgos.
While Burgos is calm inside the octagon, I see Jourdain being eager to finish the fight early. He often will fight recklessly, putting himself in dangerous positions, making him very unpredictable at times.
Burgos is the more balanced fighter in my eyes. Take the Hurricane.
UFC Pick: Shane Burgos (-175) at BetOnline
Li Jingliang vs. Muslim Salikhov
UFC Welterweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, July 16, 2022 - 02:00 PM EDT at UBS Arena
Who Is Li Jingliang?
Li “The Leech” Jinglian is a Chinese mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 18 wins (9 T/KO, 4 Submissions, 5 Decisions) and 7 losses (2 Submissions, 5 Decisions).
With a black belt in BJJ, Li ranks #14 in the UFC welterweight division. He is a powerful striker, and although he has four submission victories under his record, he has shown weakness on the mat in his last two losses.
Who Is Muslism Salikhov?
Mulism “King of Kung Fu” Salikhov is a Russian mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 18 wins (12 T/KO, 2 Submissions, 4 Decisions) and 2 losses (2 Submissions).
Salikhov is a powerful hitter as 14 out his 20 professional bouts have been finished in the first round. However, in his last three bouts, he has gone the full three rounds. During his last five bouts, he was never taken down.
Li vs. Salikhov Betting Pick
This is definitely a fight you do not want to miss. Both of these contenders are ferocious and heavy hitters; this could potentially be a toss-up fight.
Going against Li is very tough for me as the Leech is one of the most impressive fighters during my time watching the UFC. But there are three main reasons why I will side with Salikhov:
- Muslim Salikhov has been much more consistent in his last five bouts compared to Li. Salikhov is 5-0 in his last five while Li is 3-2. Not horrible on Li’s end though.
- Salikhov has the better striking defense. He is able to defend 68% of strikes against him compared to Li’s 58%.
- Salikhov is more accurate with his striking. He is 48% accurate with his striking and Li is 42% accurate.
If you do not want to turn down the underdog value of Li, I respect that. Their accuracy is not far off. However, given that Salikhov has adjusted his fight game to last the full three rounds, I think he’s going to keep this fight standing and really test the chin of Li.
Li has never been knocked out in his professional career, yet neither has Salikhov. This will definitely be a back-and-forth battle. But give me the Russian continuing his win streak for my second UFC pick.
UFC Pick: Muslim Salikhov ML (-160) at BetOnline
