Rafael Fiziev: The Story So Far
Following his UFC debut in 2019, Rafael Fiziev (12-1-0) claimed he wanted a slow rise within the lightweight division and wanted to gain experience before competing at the top of the division.
Unfortunately, this road to the top rankings didn’t come to fruition. After losing his first promotional appearance, he’s gone on a tear through the 155 lb weight class and a six-fight win streak has positioned him as a potential title contender for Islam Makhachev’s title.

Before Fiziev is considered a title challenger, he must get through the former interim lightweight champion and regular highlight reel provider, Justin Gaethje (23-4-0).
With 27 professional MMA bouts to his name, Gaethje has won 18 of those contests via KO or TKO. He’s a born finisher, and despite owning elite-level credentials as a former NCAA Division I wrestler, we’ve never witnessed a grappling-heavy gameplan from “The Highlight”.

Gaethje has been through the wringer of elite-level competition and has been involved in some of the most memorable octagon wars in MMA history.
While his style of fighting has built him into a fan favorite, father time quickly creeps on and the cumulative damage his taken over the years won’t farewell versus an incredibly technical striker and former Muay Thai champion such as Rafael Fiziev.

The UFC 286 event in London is stacked with English prospects, and a handful of those up-and-coming warriors will be making their promotional debut.
