Julian Erosa vs. Hakeem Dawodu
UFC 279 Featherweight Preliminary Card Bout
Saturday, September 10, 2022 – 06:00 PM EDT at T-Mobile Arena
Erosa vs. Dawodu Betting Pick Analysis
Julian Erosa (27-9-0) is one of the Dana White Contender Series originals, and despite failing to reach the top 15 rankings since competing for the UFC on nine occasions, “Juicy J” is rarely involved in a dull contest and knows how to put on a performance.
While he doesn’t boast the same professional experience as his weekend opponent, Hakeem Dawodu (13-2-1) is a rising featherweight star who’s presented a continuous evolution since joining the UFC in 2018.
The Canadian striker is 6-2 in the UFC, with his most recent loss coming against Movsar Evloev, a 16-0 unbeaten wrecking machine who is now the No.9 ranked featherweight in the world. So, it's safe to say that Dawodu isn’t a slouch and is the rightful betting favorite.
Erosa vs. Dawodu Betting Pick and Odds
The most notable aspect of this contest is the contrasting styles of each man. Erosa thrives on the chaos, and he’ll need Dawodu to drop his fundamentals and go for a reckless approach.
Dawodu is too smart and intelligent to fall into this trap, and I can envision Erosa becoming frustrated with his methodical approach. He boasts some solid takedown defense that can keep him away from Erosa’s notable submission attempts. If the contest remains on the feet, I believe it's Dawodu’s fight to lose.
The available UFC odds with top-rated sportsbooks are receiving most of the wagering action on Dawodu, and the betting public are hitting the right side, in my opinion.
Erosa is no slouch, but barely winning a split decision over Steven Peterson shouldn’t give bettors much confidence in his chance of overcoming Dawodu.
UFC Parlay Prediction 1: Dawodu (-220) at BetOnline
Heili Alateng vs. Chad Anheliger
UFC 279 Bantamweight Preliminary Bout
Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 06:00 PM EDT at T-Mobile Arena
Alateng vs. Anheliger Betting Pick Analysis
Heili Alateng (15-8-2) has built himself a solid reputation since joining the UFC roster in 2019, winning 3 of his five contests for the promotion and notably being the true winner of a drawn contest in the eyes of most critics.
The Chinese up-and-comer trains out of Fight Ready MMA and owns a solid wrestling game. It’s a struggle for anybody to defend his takedowns, and good luck attempting to make him submit with the brute strength he delivers on the ground and in his striking offense.
Chad Anheliger (12-5-0) hasn’t dropped the ball since 2014, but he only boasts one UFC fight on his record. The Canadian-born product of Champions Creed MMA gym will be looking for his twelfth consecutive victory, but the shark-infested waters of the UFC won’t make it easy.
Alateng vs. Anheliger Betting Pick and Odds
Anheliger lost every minute of every round during his UFC debut versus Jesse Strader, and then he delivered a picture-perfect TKO stoppage for his arrival on the big stage.
More notably, he was taken down at will by Strader, a grappler who isn’t comparable to the likes of Alateng.
Alateng is a power puncher and will undoubtedly keep Anheliger on his toes. Still, the wrestling in his back pocket could gift the Chinaman a victorious night without many issues.
The current UFC odds at Bookmakers Review give us a reasonable price on Alateng. With such a risky fight card from top to bottom, I’m comfortable with adding Alateng to a parlay, as I believe the wrestling factor is enormous.
UFC Parlay Prediction 2: Alateng to Win (-159) at BetOnline
