When UFC President Dana White decided to take his talent search to Brazil in 2018, you could say the company hit the jackpot during Dana White's Contender Series: Brazil 2. This night delivered the promotion for four talented fighters who are all now top-ranked in their respective divisions. Talia Santos, Johnny Walker, Marina Rodriguez, and Andre Muniz earned themselves a UFC contract during this momentous night.

Born and raised in Montes Claros, Brazil, 31-year-old Andre Muniz naturally gravitated towards his world-famous self-defense system, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His teenage years were spent honing these skills whilst taking up Muay Thai along the way. His love for MMA combined the two passions he was already familiar with, and the previous 11 years, mixed martial arts has been at the forefront of his training.

A move into the pros was inevitable, training at Tata Fight Team alongside the talented Thiago Santos and Luis Henrique. Muniz suffered a few setbacks during his early professional MMA tenure, but since 2013, he's notably held a 15-1 record.

It took two attempts for Muniz to garner the attention of UFC officials; his first decision win on DWCS in 2018 didn't generate enough interest to earn a contract. However, two years later, Muniz jumped at the opportunity for another run on the show. This time, a rear-naked choke finish inside the first round gave them no choice but to offer up a contract.

Two years into Muniz's UFC contract and he's gone 4-0, submitting three of his opponents, including the arm-break of Brazilian legend and former UFC title challenger Jacare Souza. The future is bright for Muniz, and his future opponents want to avoid grappling or scrambling situations with his elite-level BJJ skills.

UFC 269: Andre Muniz Fight Analysis

Muniz doesn't boast the most desirable striking offense, but he can undoubtedly hold his own in the stand-up area. The good news for him, he'll be facing a fighter in Eryk Anders who prefers to wrestle during his pro bouts.

Eryk Anders (14-5-0) has brute strength but a lack of confidence in his striking offense. Anders is a wrestler, and he's not a finisher. I believe his path to victory would be to out-point Muniz, and I just can't envision this happening.

I believe that Muniz does own a technical striking advantage, and he's unquestionably more lethal on the ground; if Anders wants to tie up with Muniz, then we should expect to see another submission victory for the Brazilian.

UFC 269: Muniz vs. Anders Betting Pick & Odds

I'm not suggesting that it'll be a walk in the park for Muniz, but I'm surprised the top sportsbooks haven't lined this fight with a larger plus-money price for Anders.

As mentioned, I doubt Anders' lackluster striking will give Muniz heaps of trouble, and when the grappling exchanges begin, the betting favorite will severely outclass his opposition.

At this price, give me Andre Muniz all day long to walk away victorious at UFC 269.
