Well, hello there my fellow bettors! This week the UFC is heading to Austin, Texas with the main card filled with fights that should be fun but are nothing short of being “chalky”. Just to give you an idea, the “cheapest” favorite on the UFC odds is above the -150 price.

Regardless, the BMR crew is here to deliver their best bets for another UFC Fight Night, this time headlined by the Calvin Kattar vs. Josh Emmett bout in the featherweight division. So let’s get right into it!

Roman Dolidze vs. Kyle Daukaus

UFC Middleweight Preliminary Card Bout

Saturday, June 18, 2022 – 04:35 PM EDT from the Moody Center

Dolidze vs. Daukaus Betting Preview

We get things started with the only fight we'll feature outside the main card. Roman Dolidze will face Kyle Daukaus (Chris' brother) as both fighters look to improve their ranking in the middleweight division.

With motivation running high in both camps, it's easy to see why people might be more interested in betting the side in this bout instead of the total While it is true that Daukaus is a heavy favorite at -260 or above (depending on where you shop) if Dolidze wants to win then he'll need to go the distance.

I know that these fighters have a history of finishing early when they win with both Dolidze and Daukaus avoiding the scorecards in at least 75% of their victories. The American fighter has earned 82% of his W's via submission and his Georgian colleague has 44% of wins via knockout with another 33% from submissions.

Dolidze vs. Daukaus Betting Pick

Having said that, their average fight time is well above the 10-minute mark, with Daukaus clocking in at 11:27 per fight and his European counterpart averaging about 12:19 every time he steps into the octagon.

Since we need to be smart about our bankroll management, I'll pay the juice and go with the over 2 ½ rounds which is currently priced at -260 as the best value line out there.

Damir Ismagulov vs. Guram Kutaleladze

UFC Lightweight Preliminary Card Bout

Saturday, June 18, 2022 – 07:35 PM EDT at Moody Center

With the Ismagulov vs. Kutaleladze fight, we move into the main card, as Ed is detecting value on the Russian prospect, Damir Ismagulov. The 31-year-old fighter excels in the technical department and has dominated all of his opposition his making his debut in the UFC back in 2018. Let's see what Ed has for us!

Ismagulov vs. Kutaleladze Betting Preview

"Guram Kutateladze makes his long-awaited return to the UFC after his impressive split decision win in his debut against ex-KSW two-division champion Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Fight Night 180 on October 17, 2020. This improved his record to 12-2. Sadly, he has not been able to compete since, with injuries keeping him sidelined for almost two years.

"Damir Ismagulov, on the other hand, has an impressive 23-1 record, including 4-0 in the UFC. He has statement wins against Joel Alvarez and Thiago Moises and in his last fight, he beat Rafael Alves via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 188 on May 22, 2021.

Ismagulov vs. Kutaleladze Betting Pick

"Ismagulov is on an incredible 18-fight winning streak and he has 12 knockouts in his career, though six of his last seven fights went the distance. This proves that he has the ability to last throughout an entire fight and I anticipate him to do well against Kutateladze and be able to control the pace.

"Damir Ismagulov is the better fighter and he has competed more recently, while Guram Kutateladze has not been inside an octagon since October 2020. Nothing replicates the speed of an actual fight and while this seems to be a very close matchup, Kutateladze will have some cage rust. I’m taking the more experienced fighter." Ed Solano

Donald Cerrone vs. Joe Lauzon

UFC Lightweight Preliminary Card Bout

Saturday, June 18, 2022 – 08:50 PM EDT at Moody Center

For the co-main event, we have two UFC legends meeting in the octagon as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Joe Lauzon face off. While Cerrone will be looking to increase his records of most UFC wins in the history of the company, Lauzon is no punk despite his "round 1 or bust" reputation.

Cerrone vs. Lauzon Betting Preview

"While that fight may not be the headliner of UFC’s card in Austin for ESPN+, you have a really interesting matchup between two certified vets of the Octagon who are looking to keep themselves in the mix as Cerrone has not won a fight in his last six trips into the cage and Lauzon only has had two victories inside the eight-sided cell in the same timeline.

"Lauzon has certainly not faced the same level of competition across his last six fights as Cerrone, but that honestly may be a good thing for the 38-year-old, with the three biggest opponents Lauzon has faced in his last ten fights being:

  • Al Iaquinta
  • Diego Sanchez
  • Clay Guida

Cerrone vs. Lauzon Betting Pick

"For my UFC picks, I’d take Lauzon in this fight (+145) and keep my eye on the under 1 ½ rounds, which is currently set at +125 as you could get a few steps closer to a solid gold boat with a big win on Saturday night." Matt Ryan

Matt's UFC Pick: Joe Lauzon ML (+145) [1u returns 1.45u profit] at BetOnline

Calvin Kattar vs. Josh Emmett

UFC Featherweight Main Event Bout

Saturday, June 11, 2022 – 06:00 PM EDT at Moody Center

We finish off with two picks for the main event of the night. You know this is going to be a good one, not only because Dave and Le have taken an interest but also because we get to see two of the top-ranked featherweight contenders in the UFC.

Calvin Kattar will step into the octagon after a 12-month layoff following his loss against Max Holloway. Meanwhile, this will be only the third time in the past two years that we see Josh Emmett take on another challenge. So, with all the hype around this event, let's allow the experts to expand.

Le's Kattar vs. Emmett Betting Pick

"Calvin Kattar enters this bout with juiced at -230 at your top-rated sportsbooks, and Josh Emmett the underdog, +195. Emmett is in a good dog position, honestly. He is coming off of 4 consecutive wins since 2019; two of those wins were by T/KO and two by decision. My one concern for Emmett is his lack of experience in the championship rounds.

"He is very durable and can make it easily in three rounds. What about five rounds? Will his gas tank deplete? Even then, his speed does not match up compared to Kattar’s.

"In a technical bout against Kattar, you need to be accurate and fast. Yes, Kattar is 2-1 in his last three bouts, but his loss to Max Holloway was an incredibly brutal fight that caused him to be rushed to the hospital.

"Overall, I give Kattar the edge with his speed, experience, technicality, and durability. And given both fighters are very durable, this bout should make it to the cards." Le Martin

Le's UFC Pick: Calvin Kattar by Points (+130) [1u returns 1.3u profit] at BetOnline

Dave's Kattar vs. Emmett Betting Pick

"Following a twelve-month layoff after losing his title opportunity versus Max Holloway, Kattar returned earlier this year and derailed the hype train known as Giga Chikadze.

"Most known for his crisp, technical, and precise boxing output, many are surprised to know that Kattar's martial arts tenure initially began on the wrestling mats.

"Kattar's greatest success comes inside the pocket, where he can unleash a violent boxing offense. Traditional 1-2 combinations with a mixture of shots high and low can soon accumulate favoritism from the cage side judges.

"Kattar should own a significant speed advantage, and he’s notably the younger fighter of the two. However, Kattar’s durability has been second to none, and throughout five rounds, I don’t believe the underdog can keep up with the output of Kattar." Dave Manyun
