After an exciting week of tennis, one match remains. The winner of today will win $523,000, the runner-up for this tournament will receive $282,000, so essentially we are watching a match between two players where the winner will receive an extra quarter-million dollars.
Teach your son or daughter to play tennis, folks! We’ve seen some great performances this week and hopefully, we’ll see one again in the final. Let’s take a look to find the winning ATP pick.

Andrey Rublev had a tough path to the finals. Yet once again he raised his level as the match continued and was able to squeak out a victory against world number 11 Hubert Hurkacz. Andrey Rublev was able to win 3-6, 7-5, 7-6. It was Rublev's first win over the Polish player.
This will be Rublev's second final in just a week, as he was the winner of the ATP 250 Marseille Open tournament last week. Rublev has played a bunch of tennis in the last 15 days, does he have it in him for one more winning match? The Russian is 9-5 in his previous ATP finals. He has won 4 ATP 500 titles in his career.
Andrey Rublev was able to overcome an incredible serving performance by Hubert Hurkacz. Hurkacz served an astounding 27 aces and only had 1 double fault. He also saved 86% of breakpoints (6-7).

Where Rublev won this match was with his ability to win second-serve points. The Russian won a workmanlike 65% of second serve points (17-26), while Hurkacz only won 40% of his (10-25).
As mentioned in my preview for this game, Rublev gets better as the match progresses. Yesterday during set one he served 57% on his first serve. In the second set, he served 67% on his first serve.
During the third, he landed 83% of his first serves. Rublev's ability to raise his level of play as the match ensued was the key to his victory.
Jiri Vesely scored a dramatic upset victory over Denis Shapovalov in the semifinals. This was the perfect sequel to his shocking upset of world number one Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.
The win by Vesely actually knocked Djokovic out of the number one spot in ATP rankings. Daniil Medvedev has now taken over the top spot. In what could have been a letdown spot for Vesely, he was able to overcome in a match that had 3 tiebreaks, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6.

Vesely got out to an early lead against Shapovalov, but the Canadian was able to break back and force the tiebreak in the first set. There were no breaks of serve in the second set. Yet Vesely was dominant in the tiebreaker winning 7-2. The two men remained on serve in the third set until Vesely lost his serve at 4-4.
He was not done yet, however, as he got a crucial break to even the match. After the men held serve one more time they went into a tie-break where once again Vesely was dominant. It was impressive that Jiri Vesely was able to follow up the best win of his career with this outstanding performance against Shapovalov.

Jiri Vesely is 28 years old from the Czech Republic. He is currently ranked 123 in the world. After his performance this week he will surely climb up the standings, but he is not done yet. Vesely is going for his third title on the ATP tour. He is 2-1 in finals so far in his career, all at the ATP 250 level.
Vesely won the Auckland Open in 2015 and fell in the finals of the Romanian Open in 2015. Vesely was the champion of the Maharashtra Open in India in February 2020. Tonight marks Vesely's first opportunity to win a title at the ATP 500 level.
This is definitely a tough match to handicap. Andrey Rublev is the better player but the form that Vesely is in is hard to go against. Vesely has been able to raise his level when needed against the world's top players. Both players are coming into the final playing an excellent level of tennis.
The ATP odds are too steep to take the Rublev ML. Therefore I like the over in this match. Rublev has been starting slow so we will most likely see a 3 set affair. With the way Vesely has been playing, I can't see him losing in a blowout.
I do favor Rublev, but I think it will be a tight, tense match. Today’s "Play of the Day" is Andrey Rublev/Jiri Vesely Over 22.5 games.
