Another day of exciting tennis action is in the books in Roland Garros as we continue with second-round action.
Due to the enormous amount of tennis being played and wagered on, it’s a tough task for these bookmakers to put up sharp lines on every match.
Let’s take advantage of their exhaustion to find more winning tennis picks.
Alize Cornet vs. Jelena Ostapenko
Thursday, May 26, 2022 – 02:45 PM EDT at Court 14
Jelena Ostapenko Analysis
Jelena Ostapenko won the French Open in 2017. The Latvian star is 24 and ranked 13th in the world. Ostapenko is the epitome of streaky, she either plays brilliantly or she loses.
After a nine-match winning streak, she failed to win a match in the months of March or April. She finally ended her losing streak in the first round here in the French Open with the win over Lucia Bronzetti.
Ostapenko hit 38 winners in the 6-4, 6-1 win. Last season, Ostapenko made the third round here, falling to Paula Badosa.
She needs the win today to defend those points from last season to help protect her top 20 rankings.
Alize Cornet Analysis
Alize Cornet is a 32-year-old French player ranked 40th in the world. She will enjoy the advantages of playing at home and she will receive plenty of support from the home crowd.
Cornet is poised to achieve an impressive record. When she enters and plays her first match in Wimbledon this season, she will have played in the most consecutive grand slams of any woman in WTA history.
Cornet was a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open this year and hopes to replicate her success here on her home soil.
This should be the classic power vs defense style matchup. Ostapenko loves to blow opponents off the court, while Cornet specializes in grinding defense and coaxing errors out of her opponents.
Ostapenko vs. Cornet: Betting Pick and Prediction
The match will be on Ostapenko's racket. If she displays the same level that she did against Bronzetti, Ostapenko will easily win the match.
If her level falls just a bit, Cornet can definitely frustrate her and induce her into more and more errors.
When it comes to Ostapenko, I do like to bet on her streakiness, and she's got a great chance to play well here today.
Although I like Ostapenko to win, she is prone to streakiness in her matches which could easily lead this match to go Under.
If Ostapenko is playing her best, she will blow Cornet off the court. If Ostapenko is not, she will get frustrated and Cornet will roll to an easy win.
Ostapenko has followed up many strong performances with a dud. The best way to approach her streaky nature is by taking the Under in this match.
Our first best bet for today's French Open is under 21.
Roberto Carballés Baena vs. Jannik Sinner
Thursday, May 26, 2022 - 10:00 AM EDT at Court 7
Jannik Sinner Analysis
Jannik Sinner is an up-and-coming Italian player who is only 20 years old yet ranks 12th in the world.
Sinner's best surface is clay and he most recently made the quarterfinals of his home tournament before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Sinner had a strong clay season, advancing to the quarterfinals in Monte Carlo and the round of 16 in Madrid.
Sinner's style plays well on the clay and he is definitely at home on the surface here at Roland Garros.
Jannik Sinner has an all-court game, he can be dangerous on all surfaces. That is not the case for his opponent today, Roberto Carballés Baena.
Carballés Baena Analysis
Carballés Baena is a clay courter through and through. Carballés Baena is coming off a challenger tournament win in Tunis to warm up for the French Open.
Other than that his results were not the best at the ATP level on this year's clay court swing, going 1-3. Carballés Baena does fantastic at the challenger level with a break percentage of 43.5%.
Unfortunately against the world's best on the ATP Tour, Carballés Baena has only a 17.3% break percentage.
However, he did score an upset win over Oscar Otte in the first round with a five-set victory.
Sinner vs. Carballés Baena: Betting Pick and Prediction
Jannik Sinner is the much better player and has much more potential to make waves in this tournament.
However, I think that Roberto Carballés Baena will keep this match close. This match will go over the total.
Although Sinner is much more skilled and athletic than Carballés Baena, Carballés Baena will have enough up his sleeve to keep the match a closely contested affair.
He may even take a set. Our second best bet for today's French Open is Over 30.5 games.
Tennis Pick: Over 30.5 games (-115) with Bovada
