We are on to the third round in the French Open at Roland Garros in Paris. On the women’s side, we have seen plenty of upsets, on the men’s side, the top contenders from our pre-tournament analysis remain.

Let’s take a look at today’s matches to find more winning tennis picks

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Sebastian Korda

 Friday, May 27, 2022 – 02:45 PM EDT at Court Phillipe-Chatrier

Sebastian Korda Tennis Player Overview

The best American prospect on clay takes on the player who most think will be the top player in the world for the next decade: Sebastian Korda

Korda will have his work cut out for him against Carlos Alcaraz, who seems to be the heir apparent to the throne of the king of the clay courts. Sebastian Korda is no slouch in his own right. He has championship DNA, his father was a Grand Slam champion.

Korda was helped in his training by Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. Korda was trained and raised to be a tennis champion, and so far it is obvious that his labors, training, and athleticism are all up to the challenge.

Sebastian Korda will also now have to face off against the player who is expected to inherit the mantle of the best player in the world when the current generation retires. Sebastian Korda knows that if he is to get a win today, it would go a long way toward raising his level of recognition and prestige among other ATP players and ATP fans.

Carlos Alcaraz ATP Player Analysis

Carlos Alcaraz is my favorite to win this tournament, but he has shown hiccups on his way to getting here. After absolutely crushing in his first-round victory, Carlos Alcaraz was put to the test by clay court veteran Albert Ramos.

Alcaraz looked to be done when he faced the match point on Ramos' serve at 5-4 in the fourth. But Alcaraz was able to overcome the tiebreak. He then fell down a break in the fifth set but was able to recover to eventually get the win.

To be fair, Albert Ramos is an excellent clay-court player, and to have problems with a lefty who specializes on the surface isn't the end of the world for Alcaraz. Rather, it is an excellent learning experience.

Not only that, but the way that Carlos Alcaraz was able to find the fortitude to come through on the big points shows that he has learned two things:

  • First is the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.
  • Second is the ability to win matches when he is not playing his best level of tennis.

These two traits will serve Alcaraz well as he continues on in the tournament and will eventually match up with the world's best players such as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Alcaraz vs. Korda ATP Betting Picks

I think this will be another close match and learning experience for Carlos Alcaraz. Sebastian Korda is an accomplished clay courter as well and will be able to test Alcaraz in a variety of ways.

Korda has the power to hit winners when he's given an advantage, yet the defensive chops to extend rallies if Alcaraz is once again not playing his best.

This should be a fun match between you two up-and-coming stars. Our first bet for today's French Open is Carlos Alcaraz/Sebastian Korda over 35 games as displayed on the ATP odds board.

Sloane Stephens vs. Diane Parry

Friday, May 27, 2022 - 02:45 PM EDT at  Court Phillipe-Chatrier

WTA Player: Diane Parry

Diane Parry has been the surprise of the French Open, and the delight of French fans with an upset victory over defending champion Barbora Krejcikova and Camila Osorio.

She now takes her skills and rising name recognition into the third round. Parry will face another former Grand Slam champion, Sloane Stephens.

Diane Parry had played almost exclusively challenger events this year going into the tournament, and to make such a splash in the main draw is quite the surprise to Parry and her fans.

Sloane Stephens Player Analysis

Sloane Stephens won the US Open championship in 2018. Stephens has an all-court game where she can be an excellent defender or aggressive ball striker.

Stephens does suffer from periods where she does not take her matches or opponent seriously, but that most often happens in the lower level, lower prestige events.

Here on the Grand Slam stage, Stephens has shown that she can rise to her old level of play, and that level of play is quite simply brilliant. Stephens has had an easier path than our opponent today, but she needed three sets in both matches.

However, as much as she has had to struggle, it does show that she is going to fight and not give up, which is important when handicapping a Sloane Stephens match.

Stephens vs. Diane Parry WTA Betting Pick

This is another match that I expect to go over. Sloane Stephens has been fighting hard, but she has not been getting decisive victories.

On the other hand, Diane Parry has shown that she is ready to make her mark, and she is a player who is buoyed by the support of the home crowd, which she will have today in full. With a packed house cheering on their new hometown hero, Diane Parry should give a great effort today.

Combine that with Sloane Stephens' penchant for going to three sets, even in matches she should win with ease, and the over is the obvious play. Our second tennis bet for today's French Open is Diane Parry/Sloane Stephens over 21 games.
