As fatigue begins to set in, tenacity and desire could dictate which teams will advance from the first group of Round of 16 fixtures. Either way, our World Cup picks are primed and ready to cash this Sunday.

The Three Lions have been the most formidable team in front of goal, netting six against Iran and sending Wales back to the UK with another three. The defending champions easily qualified for the knockout phase but now have to face Robert Lewandowski and his physical Polish teammates.

Read on for this Sunday’s Round of 16 World Cup best bets, soccer analysis, and free Qatar betting preview for France vs. Poland and England vs. Senegal.

France vs. Poland

Sunday, December 4, 2022 – 10:00 AM EST at Al Thumama Stadium

Trends and Team Form

  • France is unbeaten in 60 of their previous 67 games in all competitions
  • France has scored at least 2 goals in 4 of their last 5 games

France: Starting XI Rested and Ready to Defend Their Title

The 2018 World Cup champions have successfully defended their crown thus far. Despite losing to Tunisia last time, they had already qualified as Group D winners and notably fielded a second-string line-up to give their star players a valuable rest.

Trends show that France has only won 3 of their previous 9 games; however, those three victories were obtained from their five most recent meetings to prove their World Cup form is primed and capable of defending the trophy in their cabinet.

Poland: A Lack of Passion and Fight

Poland qualified from Group C but was fortunate to progress on goal difference. The Mexican squad came close to eliminating Lewandowski and co., but their failure to score a third goal prevented them from doing so.

In their final group stage matchday, Poland was utterly outclassed by Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad (2-0) in a game where they looked uninterested in trying. It could have easily been a 4-0 or 5-0 win for Argentina, and this lack of desire from Poland doesn’t bode well for their Round of 16 meeting with a formidable French squad.

Betting Pick and Prediction

The available World Cup odds at Bookmakers Review have placed France as the significant betting favorite. This should be no surprise; Poland didn’t qualify in second with flying colors and is pretty lucky to be in the Round of 16.

With the return of Giroud, Mbappe, Hernandez, Rabiot, Lloris, and Griezmann, Poland will face a well-rested France squad that won’t easily fall victim to Poland’s counterattack. The French have too much pizazz in the final third, and Poland won’t have an answer.

Score Prediction: France 2 - Poland 0

England vs. Senegal

Sunday, December 4, 2022 - 02:00 PM EST at Al Bayt Stadium

Trends and Team Form

  • Argentina is undefeated at half-time in 29 consecutive games
  • Argentina has conceded 4 goals from 12 games in 2022

England: The Most Formidable Strike Force in Qatar

Marcus Rashford has outshone his fellow frontrunner, Harry Kane, and Jude Bellingham has emerged as England’s MVP. All in all, England has netted nine goals thus far, maintained two clean sheets, and dominated the opposition in their journey to the Round of 16.

Their meeting with the USA is an obvious outlier. Still, squad adjustments and a laid-back outlook quickly forced Gareth Southgate to return to the original gameplan as the Three Lions bounced back from a 0-0 draw to send their British rivals Wales back home (3-0).

England will now face a Senegal team missing their two first-choice midfielders, an area where they’ve looked formidable in this tournament with a counter-push and transitional moments.

Senegal: Representing Africa

African nations haven’t fared well in World Cup history, but the Lions of Teranga have displayed some commendable 90 minutes of football this year.

Winning the Africa Cup of Nations earlier in 2022 was followed by an emphatic World Cup qualifying game versus Egypt. With that said, the absence of Sadio Mane in Qatar has proved detrimental against the elite teams, and the English could replicate a 2-0 loss that Senegal suffered to the Netherlands.

Overcoming Qatar and Ecuador was commendable. Leaving their group with six points was equally impressive; however, the Three Levels are levels above those two squads and will present a goal-scoring threat this team has not yet faced.

Pick and Prediction

The top World Cup sportsbooks have, to no surprise, positioned England with a juiced moneyline. However, the over 1.5 team total on the Three Lions at -118 shows excellent value.

As the highest-scoring team through the group stages in Qatar, expecting England to score at least another two goals against Senegal isn’t a big ask. When you compare the moneyline price to the over, it’s a no-brainer decision.

Score Prediction: England 2 - Senegal 0
