LOSC Lille vs. FC Lorient
Friday, September 10, 2021 – 03:00 PM EDT at Venue Stade Yves Allainmat – Le Moustoir
Lorient welcomes Lille to Stade Yves Allainmat – Le Moustoir on Friday for a matchday 5 showdown. Les Merlus have had an up-and-down start to the season and take a one-two-one mark into the weekend. Most recently, Les Merlus settled on a two-two draw with Lens on the road. Similarly, consistency has been lacking in the titleholder’s start to the season. Lille, however, is coming off their first win on the 2021 campaign, beating Montpellier two-one. It was a confidence-boosting win for Les Douges as they look to prove that their championship-winning season was no fluke.
Across sports betting markets, Les Douges enter this pivotal match as the favorites, even though they’re tipped in plus money. Lille is priced at +105 on the money-line to win while Lorient is priced at a distant +270 to clinch the win at home – the Ligue 1 odds vary depending on the choice sportsbook. Lorient is dealing with injuries to Leo Petrot and Jeremy Morel while Stephane Diarra and Loris Mouyokolo look doubtful for this game. Lille, in the meanwhile, is dealing with an injury to Renato Sanches while Tiago Djalo and Mehmet Zeki Celik are questionable.
Neither Lorient nor Lille have played well enough to have a clear advantage in this game, but the latter is the better team on paper. Lorient will be keen to deliver an upset here but Lille to come through with a narrow win is the choice bet anyway.
Clermont Foot 63 vs Paris Saint-Germain FC
Saturday, September 11, 2021 - 11:00 AM EDT at Venue Parc des Princes
PSG looks to continue its momentum as it takes on Clermont at the Venue Parc des Princes in the French capital this weekend. The hosts are off to a flying start in domestic action, having won all four of their first contests in convincing fashion. PSG is four-zero-zero on the season with a maximum of 12 points and they’ve scored 12 goals to five conceded.
Most recently, PSG is coming off a 2-0 win over Reims. The match also marked the long-awaited debut of Lionel Messi for the Parisiens. Whether Messi plays this weekend against Clermont, or for that matter, Neymar too, is a question mark. The pair featured World Cup qualifying action during the international break, including the now-infamous Brazil vs. Argentina game which was stopped after seven minutes of play due to health and safety protocols.
PSG has injury concerns with Kylian Mbappe, who is questionable for this game as he suffered an injury during France’s match with Bosnia. As well, Sergio Ramos, Juan Bernat, and Mauro Icardi are doubtful. Clermont is currently sat in third place in the Ligue 1 table behind a two-two-zero mark and eight points. They’ve scored eight goals and conceded five over the course of four matches. By all accounts, Clermont is the early surprise package in Ligue 1, climbing to the top of the table against the soccer odds.
Whether they can carry that momentum into Parc Des Princes remains to be seen. Even with a watered-down PSG side, manager Mauricio Pochettino still has enough quality and talent to be able to take the measure of the visitors. PSG are quite rightly runaway favorites on the soccer odds board to win this match, but betting on their money-line odds holds little value. The best bet is found in total betting markets with a bet on the OVER 3.5 goals.
OGC Nice vs FC Nantes
Sunday, September 12, 2021 - 11:00 AM EDT at Venue Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau
Fourth-place Nice (two-one-zero) head to Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau to face off against 12th placed Nantes (one-one-two). As things currently stack up Nice has the edge over Nantes despite being on the road. That said, Nice is priced at +125 or thereabouts to win this match while Nantes is trading at +230 or thereabouts depending on the top sportsbooks.
Nice is undefeated on the season and they’ll be keen to continue that positive run of form at the weekend. Nice won two of their last three matches while the third versus Marseille was suspended due to chaos and disruptive behavior from fans. Most recently, Nice trounced Bordeaux four-zero. Prior to that, they stunned the defending champions Lille four-zero on the road.
Nantes is off to a slow start this season and has merely one win and one draw to show for their efforts. With merely four points, Nantes is sat pretty in the second half of the table and just two points clear of the relegation zone. The premium on winning or drawing matches couldn’t be any greater as such.
However, Nice poses a daunting prospect for Nantes considering the gap in form. Nantes have lost two on the trot by a score of one-0zeroand could be in danger of a third straight loss against a Nice side that’s swelling in confidence and scoring with abandon. In fact, it’s somewhat surprising that Nice is priced in plus money to win this match.
