Another weekend of Major League Soccer action is just around the corner and we’re back to bring you our weekly preview of some of the best MLS bets along with soccer picks for your consideration.

So, without too much fuss, let’s get started. It’s going to be a cracking July 4th weekend!

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Los Angeles FC

Saturday, July 02, 2022 – 10:00 PM EDT at BC Place

Vancouver Whitecaps: Soccer Analysis

The Vancouver Whitecaps face a tough matchup this weekend against the Los Angeles Football Club. That fact is nowhere more so evident than on the MLS odds where the Whitecaps are pegged as the huge home underdogs.

Vancouver is still slightly off the pace in the Western Conference standings. They’re 11th in the table with a 6-3-8 record and 21 points through 17 games. Two points separate Vancouver from the Seattle Sounders in seventh place. But with three other teams in between and all vying to climb up the table, the competition is stiff for the coveted playoff spots.

Their recent form is encouraging, as the Whitecaps are undefeated in their last three fixtures. They beat Dallas 2-0 on the away and settled on a scoreless draw to New England at home. In between those MLS games, they beat York United in the Canadian Championships.

Los Angeles FC: Soccer Analysis

Across multiple MLS power rankings, Los Angeles Football Club ranks at the top, if not the top of the league rankings. If that’s not an endorsement of their quality, what is?

They’re currently in first place in the Western Conference behind an 11-3-3 record and 36 points through 17 games. As things currently stand, they have a seven-point edge over their nearest rivals in second place, Real Salt Lake and Nashville (both tied on 29 points).

Recent Stars Signings

LAFC made the headlines recently with a couple of eyebrow-raising signings. Their latest is a pretty big one, too. Wales forward and former Real Madrid stalwart, Gareth Bale, is heading to Tinseltown on a one-year contract with LAFC.

The Welshman joins Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini, who signed with the club earlier this month after his departure from Juventus. Bale won’t be available for this game. His move won’t be before July 7 once the MLS transfer window opens.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. LAFC: MLS Betting Pick

These kinds of signings cement LAFC as a legitimate contender for the MLS title, if they weren’t already. Rumour has it that they’re chasing more big-name acquisitions, which will only open the gap between them and the rest more.

The Vancouver Whitecaps aren’t at the same level. As such, they’ll be lucky to get a point from this high-profile clash.

Columbus Crew vs. Philadelphia Union

Sunday, July 03, 2022 - 07:30 PM EDT at Field

Columbus Crew: Soccer Analysis

The Columbus Crew welcome one of the best teams in the MLS right now to Field, as they get set to face the Philadelphia Union this Sunday.

On paper, there is a decided gap in quality between these two Eastern Conference rivals. However, the best sportsbooks and betting sites think otherwise. Or so it seems because they’ve cornered this game with the hosts, albeit with both sides trading on plus money.

Columbus ranks ninth in the Eastern Conference standings after trotting up to a modest 5-6-5 record and 21 points through 16 games. They’re three points behind the seventh-placed New England Revolution and a playoff spot, but with a game in hand. As well, Inter Miami is sandwiched in between them and tied with Columbus on points and games.

Possible Signing

With the wheeling and dealing heating up across the league as the transfer window looms, Columbus is in the thick of it too. Reportedly, they’re about to land a young talent with plenty of European football experience spanning the Premier League and La Liga, Juan C. Hernandez.

The Colombian professional footballer, also known as Cucho Hernandez, is joining as a Young Designated Player when the July 7 transfer window opens.

Philadelphia Union: Soccer Analysis

The Philadelphia Union is riding high in the Eastern Conference standings, tied in first place with the CF Montreal. Philadelphia boasts a 7-8-2 record with 29 points through 17 games and their two losses are the fewest of any team in the league.

The Philadelphia Union saw their unbeaten streak of nine straight come to a screeching end last weekend behind a surprise 1-0 loss to the Chicago Fire. It marked their first loss on the road since a 2-1 loss to Toronto n April 17. The Union is 1-3-1 in their last five road trips.

Columbus Crew vs. Philadelphia Union: MLS Betting Pick

A win for the hosts in this game would be significant, but Philadelphia is a tough nut to crack.

The bookmakers appear to be tipping this game towards the hosts, but the value play is on either the draw or the outright win for the visitors. Philadelphia isn’t in the habit of leaking too many points.
