The MLS serves up a watered-down weekend schedule of action this weekend as the international break extends into its second week. In total, there are only three matches on the docket.

There are many ways to bet on soccer – from betting the moneyline, point spread and/or totals to creating same-game or multi-game parlays and much, much more. In this column, we focus on the best two fixtures and serve up some choice soccer betting predictions and picks for your consideration.

Charlotte FC vs. New York Red Bulls

Saturday, June 11, 2022 – 03:00 PM EDT at Bank of America Stadium

Charlotte FC

Charlotte FC kicks off this weekend with a date against the New York Red Bulls at the Bank of America Stadium. This marks the first MLS meeting but the second match in the last three weeks. The first encounter of these Eastern Conference rivals came in US Open Cup action on May 26th, when Charlotte lost 3-1 on the away.

The MLS newcomers will be keen to get back on track this weekend after a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders. However, key questions hang over the club as it prepares for its first match under interim head coach, Christian Lattanzio. In a shocking twist, Charlotte fired former head coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez after only 14 games and a 5-1-8 record with 16 points.

To be fair, 16 points from 14 games isn’t a terrible start for an expansion team. Sure, it’s not awe-inspiring or anything like that. But when Charlotte ranks 8th in the table and sits just two points behind Inter Miami in seventh place and a potential playoff spot, there’s definitely room for optimism.

NY Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls are coming off a thrilling 4-1 win over D.C. United, clinching their second-straight win after beating Charlotte 2-1 on May 26th.

As things currently stand in the East, the Metros sit pretty in fourth place with a 6-53 mark and 23 points. They are tied with Montreal (3rd) and two points behind Philadelphia Union (2nd). Only three points separate the Red Bulls from first-placed city rivals, NYFC.

The Metros have been a better team on the road than at home of late. Their last five road fixtures have yielded a 3-1-1 record. That said, they’re coming off a 2-0 loss to Inter Miami on May 22.

Charlotte FC vs. NY Red Bulls Prediction

Lattanzio’s first task as the new interim head coach isn’t an easy one. The Red Bulls are in good form and brimming with confidence.

Indeed, if you look at the soccer odds board, it’s clear that the visitors are favored as they look to extend their positive road form at the expense of the hosts. The best bit, with plus money odds on offer for the straight-up win, backing the Red Bulls offers value too.

Nashville FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Saturday, June 11, 2022 - 08:00 PM EDT at GEODIS Park

Nashville FC

Nashville FC is flying high in the Western Conference. The Coyotes rank sixth overall with a 6-4-4 mark and 22 points through 14 fixtures. They’re a point behind LA Galaxy (5th), two points behind Austin (4th), and three points behind FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake (2nd and 3rd, respectively).

Form in recent weeks has been most auspicious, capped off by a 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on the away. In their last five MLS fixtures, the Coyotes are 3-1-1.

San Jose Earthquakes

The San Jose Earthquakes are barely registering on the Richter Scale. They’re 13th in the Western Conference table with a subpar 3-5-6 record and 14 points. Only Sporting KC is worse off right now with 13 points from 14 fixtures.

The Earthquakes have enjoyed some of their better results in recent weeks but mostly on home turf. They’re 2-2-1 in their last five overall MLS fixtures (home and away) and a solid 3-2-0 at home. Their road form continues to drag them down. They’re 0-1-4 in their last five away games. The Quakes also conceded 14 goals while scoring merely 8 during this stretch.

Nashville vs. SJ Earthquakes Soccer Betting Prediction

Nashville is the biggest favorite on the soccer betting board this weekend, which is rather telling. Put it this way, the Quakes haven’t exactly left anyone quaking in their boots of late. So, it would be a shocker if they pulled off an upset in Music City.

You can bet the outright win at the best price of -159 with Heritage Sports. Alternatively, the handicap offers good value too, especially if the Coyotes can break through the Quakes’ porous defense in this matchup
