France’s top-flight league is gearing up for another round of scintillating football fixtures and we bring you some of the best bets we’ve spotted on the weekend’s slate.
So, let’s get started without too much ado and go straight to the soccer betting picks and previews.
LOSC Lille vs. FC Nantes
Saturday, November 27, 2021 – 11:00 AM EST at Venue Stade Pierre-Mauroy
Lille is coming off yet another draw in Ligue 1, extending its winless streak to five straight (0-3-2). Lile is 12th in the league with a 4-5-5 record and 17 points in 14 fixtures.
On the bright side, they did get a point from the 2-2 draw at Monaco on Friday, marking their third draw in their last five fixtures. As well, they’re coming off a 1-0 win over Salzburg in midweek Champions League action.
Nantes is coming off a 3-1 defeat to PSG at the Parc des Princes in the nation’s capital. It marked their third winless account in domestic action as they slipped to a 5-3-6 record and 18 points. Les Canaris are 1-2-2 in their last five fixtures, but they’ve suffered two defeats and settled on a draw in their last three fixtures.
Nantes will be looking to avoid a fourth winless account when they descend on Lille this weekend. However, Les Douges are quite solid at home this season after going 3-2-1 in their six fixtures at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Predictably, the Ligue 1 odds are cornered with Lille and a home win should be strongly considered.
AS Saint-Etienne vs. Paris Saint-Germain FC
Sunday, November 28, 2021 - 07:00 AM EST at Venue Stade Geoffroy-Guichard
Something’s gotta give when Saint-Etienne and PSG collide at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Sunday. At the face of it, this is a clash between two sides that occupy opposite ends of the table.
The hosts are 2-6-6 with 12 points and mired in the relegation zone. On the other hand, PSG needs no introduction. The star-studded cast leads the league with a near-perfect 12-1-1 record and 37 points through 14 fixtures, and they’re widely held as the top bet to win the Ligue 1 title.
And yet, Saint-Etienne is enjoying a mini-surge in form of late after recording back-to-back wins over Clermont and Troyes. Les Verts might be no match for PSG on paper – Mauricio Pochettino’s side is riding a three-game winning streak and they’re undefeated in their last five fixtures. But they’ll be buoyed by their recent good form.
One can’t underestimate the desperation of some of the lower-ranked teams. Everybody loves a good underdog story, and this host fits the bill. Les Verts will be motivated to continue their battle for top-flight survival and if it requires taking it to the top team in the league, well that’s just another incentive.
PSG’s goal to reclaim the Ligue 1 title this season is off to a fantastic start. Last weekend, they defeated Nantes 3-1 to improve their lead over second-placed Nice to 11 points. The game featured Lionel Messi’s belated first Ligue 1 goal, but it also saw keeper Keylor Navas red-carded for jumping into Ludovic Blas outside of the box.
However, midweek Champions League action saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side succumb to Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad. That’s likely to have left the highly-fancied Parisiennes a bit sore ahead of the weekend.
Considering PSG’s busy week, traveling across the Channel, and Navas’ unavailability for this weekend Ligue 1 fixture, there might be some value in a competitive game that could see a lot of goals from both sides. The previous game between this pair resulted in a 3-2 win for PSG last season. Thus, the choice soccer bet here is the over on the game totals.
