Spanish La Liga Matchday 22 kicks off this weekend and following this set of games we will have to endure a two-week break. So let’s get some winners on this weekend’s board in Spain.
We believe we have found some nice spots and La Liga odds value in three games across the board so let’s check them out!
Levante UD vs. Cadiz CF
Saturday, January 22, 2022 – 08:00 AM EST at Estadi Ciutat de València
The first game to take place this Saturday morning at 08:00 AM EST is Levante vs. Cadiz in what can only be described as a six-pointer. Although it’s just three points for a win, those three points will feel like six as its bottom of the table Levante taking on second last Cadiz.
Four points separate the two teams but Levante have played one game less than their opponents so as much as both teams will want to win here, Levante need to win much more than Cadiz.
This is a relegation dog fight at the bottom of the table and there’s no way these teams can be realistic about winning here without getting stuck in and picking up a few yellow cards. The referee in charge is C. S. Grado, who averages 4.92 cards per game and has handed out three red cards this season.
These two teams are not usually ones we think of in terms of cards, maybe Levante a little this season but Cadiz have had good discipline.
We are going to take the over 5.5 cards here mainly because of the importance of the game for both teams, if it wasn’t a relegation battle, we wouldn’t be as confident but it is a relegation battle so bring on the cards. Levante’s previous five competitive matches have all witnessed a red card.
A banker here is both teams over 1.5 cards but that is juiced to -200, no value for a single play but a potential parlay bet.
Rayo Vallecano vs. Athletic Bilbao
Sunday, January 23, 2022 - 12:30 PM EST at Campo de Futbol de Vallecas
Rayo Vallecano are the best home team in La Liga right now with their home record sitting at 8 wins, 2 draws, and zero losses. Sevilla also have the same record at home but have conceded 8 goals compared to Rayo's 4.
This is a big game for the home side as they go in search of three points to strengthen their European competition claim for next season. A win for them (if other results go their way over the weekend) could potentially see them jump into 4th.
Atletico Bilbao will not welcome this trip to the capital as they have struggled to score on the road in their previous few games and have only managed to find the back of the net on one occasion during their previous five road matches in the league.
Their 11 away games this season have produced just 12 goals in total, the lowest in the league, and the under 2.5 goals in this one is juiced to -180, which holds zero La Liga betting value.
We are going to take the home team to keep on picking up three points on home soil, it’s not that Bilbao are not a strong team, they can upset anybody on their day, but away from home their very passive and not only do they rank first in under 2.5 goals on the road, but they have also drawn 8 of their 11 road games.
A draw could be on the cards, but at +190 we don’t see value in the draw so take Rayo to come away from this one with all three points.
Sevilla FC vs. RC Celta Vigo
Saturday, January 22, 2022 – 12:30 PM EST at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
Sevilla will be looking to pick up three points here, after dropping two against Valencia last time out. They now find themselves four points behind league leaders, Real Madrid.
Celta Vigo have managed to pick up the majority of their points on the road this season with a total of 15 of their 26 total points coming away from home, giving them the third-best away record in the league.
Our final soccer pick for this weekend is the under 2.5 goals in this Sevilla and Celta Vigo matchup. Sevilla’s home matches this season have produced a 50% win rate towards the over 2.5 goals whilst Vigo, on the road, have seen just 30% of their games go over the 2.5 goal line.
Sevilla are also missing some starters so they will be more than happy to keep this game low scoring and we can see a 1-0 / 2-0 / 1-1 sort of scoreline here.
La Liga Pick: Under 2.5 Goals (-125) at BetOnline
