It’s Matchday 20 in the Spanish La Liga, the title race just got a whole lot more interesting as league leaders Real Madrid suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Getafe last time out. Sevilla now have one game in hand and are just five points behind Madrid.
This week’s La Liga card was tough but we found some nice spots, nonetheless. So let’s break down some La Liga odds and get to some winners!
Real Sociedad vs. RC Celta
Saturday, January 08, 2022 – 10:15 AM EST at Reale Arena
Real Sociedad were league leaders at one stage this season. Now, they have now gone six league games without winning and find themselves 16 points behind the league leaders and managed to lose four of their previous five games.
Scoring at home has been a struggle for this team who have seen six of their nine games go under 1.5 match goals and Sociedad have only scored six goals in nine home games.
We have found an angle here and that’s Sociedad to score a goal in the first half, they have done so in 76% of their home games this season, the highest percentage in the league. Alexander Isak has scored first for his team on eight of his eleven goals this season, he is a nice +450 to score first with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review).
Granada CF vs. FC Barcelona
Saturday, January 08, 2022 - 12:30 PM EST at Nuevo Los Cármenes
This is a very straightforward and simple play for us. Granada have picked up 10 more cards than Barcelona this season and given how poor Barcelona are these days, they might fancy their chances of winning here, which is coming in at odds of +375 if you’re interested.
Although, the top sportsbooks also agree with us that Granada might be able to pull off the upset here because Barcelona are missing at least 12 players for this game. With injuries and covid protocol, they could potentially have up to 15 players out.
Granada are set to lose only five players for this game at the time of writing. As much as this is tempting, we can’t trust Granada even against a weakened Barca team, not at these odds, maybe at +550 or more. We are however happy to see Granada win the card battle.

Rayo Vallecano vs. Real Betis
Sunday, January 09, 2022 - 08:00 AM EST at Estadio de Vallecas
The odds here for over 2.5 goals at -110 seem pretty bang on the line and we wouldn’t take it any lower than that. These teams combined have seen 19 overs and 19 unders but, with that being said, we are betting the over 2.5 here.
The reason being is Betis have seen four of their previous five games go over 2.5 goals and the previous two meetings between these sides produced five goals.
More importantly, it’s a big game for both teams. If Rayo win, they will go level on points with 3rd place Real Betis. If Betis win, they create a nice six points gap between themselves and 6th place Vallecano. Important games are not necessarily so tight always and an early goal here could spark this game into life.

Villarreal CF vs. Atletico Madrid
Sunday, January 09, 2022 - 03:00 PM EST at Estadio de la Ceramica
Our final soccer pick this week is more of a gut play with a plus money bet and that’s Villarreal and Atletico Madrid to tie the match at +220. We have a team on the up in Villarreal who have won four of their previous five games, while the traveling Atletico Madrid have won just one of their last five.
Just four points separate these teams and as strong as the Yellow Submarine seems to be these days, we have to think Atletico Madrid will be strong enough with their backs up against the wall to come away with at least one point.
Five of these teams' previous ten meetings have ended in a draw. At the time of writing, both teams have no major players missing due to COVID protocols.
