La Liga Matchday 18 takes place this week, we are just one more round away from the winter break, which usually lasts two weeks, although some teams will have to play games that were postponed due to covid or another related issue.

After a clean sweep 4-0 last week we are confident we can cash another profitable week here before the winter break, so let’s get into some La Liga odds.

Real Sociedad vs. Villarreal CF

Saturday, December 18, 2021 – 10:15 AM EST at Reale Arena

It’s all fallen apart for the Basque team Real Sociedad. At one stage they held the top of the league and, although not many believed they would actually go on and win it, nobody expected to see a downturn in fortunes like this.

Sociedad have since only picked up one point from their previous four games and have the 4th worst league form over the previous five matches. They have struggled to score this season, especially lately, having now gone four games without scoring a goal and they are the lowest scorers from the top 8 clubs, with just 19 goals scored.

Villarreal have struggled massively away from home this season, only picking up five points from a possible 24, and are massively underachieving this season. Although, they do have a very winnable Champions League knockout tie against a poor Juventus side to look forward to.

We are looking at over 1.5 cards each in this one, there’s a lot on the line for both teams and they will both be eager to pick up a win before the winter break.

Although the referee only averages 4.13 cards per game and both teams only average 4.31 cards combined, their previous five fixtures have averaged 5.2 cards per game.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Real Betis

Sunday, December 19, 2021 - 10:15 AM EST at Estadio San Mamés

A run of eight games without a win in the league has left Bilbao in 12th place, five points adrift of a European spot. If only they could pick up another win they would be right back in the hunt, but it’s been too poor of a run for Bilbao. Luckily for them, virtually the whole league is in poor form besides the top 5 so they could be much further adrift.

Betis on the other hand are sitting in 3rd place in the league and have the 2nd best league away form, with 16 points picked up from a possible 24. Betis have also not drawn an away game since their first away game of the season to Mallorca.

With all that said we think this is a good spot to jump on the draw. Bilbao are better at home than their current form suggests and Betis are due a lull here.

They have been fighting on the European front as well as domestically. I expect Betis to be good enough to at least earn a draw here.

Real Madrid vs. Cadiz FC

Sunday, December 19, 2021 - 03:00 PM EST at Santiago Bernabéu

League leaders (and most likely winners) Real Madrid play host to 18th place Cadiz. Madrid have been very consistent this season, and incredibly boring to watch. Sorry Madrid fans.

Madrid are ahead by a total of eight points to second place Sevilla and even if Sevilla wins their game in hand, that’s still five points, which is a lot when Madrid are winning week in and out.

I mean, right now, they're the best team in the league, not because of the best roaster, or the most exciting of tactics, but because even on their best day, we don’t believe any of the current teams could stick it up to them. This is something to think, given that this is the worst Madrid team they have had in forever... so, at least 12/13 years.

Cadiz away from home this year has been, actually pretty decent, although they have only picked up eight points from a potential 24, that’s the 11th best in the league and currently better than a lot of good teams ahead of them in the league, such as Barcelona and Villarreal.

Take the Madrid team to win this game and under 4.5 goals, Madrid are more than happy to win low-scoring games these days, but they can score a few when needs be. Madrid wins 3-0.
