We are almost halfway through the La Liga season as we head into matchday 16. There are now 7 points separating Real Madrid and defending champions/arch-rivals Atletico Madrid. The reigning champions Atletico have played one game less than Real so that gap could be reduced to four points at some stage. We have some cracking matches to look forward to this weekend in the league and pretty much every game this weekend is an even matchup.
Sevilla FC vs. Villarreal CF
Saturday, December 04, 2021 – 08:00 AM EST at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán
Both Villarreal and Sevilla suffered defeats to Real Madrid and Barcelona in the previous round despite being tied after 85 minutes of play. 15 of the previous 18 meetings between these teams in La Liga have seen the home side come away with the victory. Sevilla are currently sitting in 4th position, just one point behind second place, they will be happy with their league status at the moment.
Villarreal on the other hand are in the bottom half of the league table for the 3rd time in four seasons and have yet to pick up an away win so far this season. They have the players capable of finishing in 6th or 7th place but currently linger down in 12th spot, a good seven points behind 7th place Barcelona.
Villarreal have not won as away underdogs in the league in their previous 11 games and we really struggle to see that happening here against Sevilla who are undefeated at home this season. We obviously like the home win here but at +100 we feel we would like a little more value as the draw kills us here and Sevilla +0.5 is only -250.
Take both teams for your soccer picks to find the back of the net here at -110 as the best play in this La Liga match.
FC Barcelona vs. Real Betis Balompie
Saturday, December 04, 2021 - 10:15 AM EST at Camp Nou
Barcelona struggles seem to have leveled out for now and they are undefeated in their previous five games along with three of those resulting in a win. Since Xavi took over, they have won twice and drawn once. This home game against a red hot Real Betis is just what the Catalan team need to get back into the top half of the table as they are currently four points behind Betis and have played one game less than today's opponents.
As bad as their season has been they can seriously consider the possibility of being in 2nd or 3rd place in the league before the Christmas break, but for that to happen a win here is a must.
Real Betis have been playing some solid football this season and they will be more than happy with their 5th place standings in the league after their opening 15 matches. We like some goals in this fixture here and over 3.0 goals seem like a solid play here if the game finishes on three exactly we get a push. Both teams are missing some key players and combined they have an injury list stretching to 11 players now.
Barcelona have seen the most overs at home this season in the league and 4 of the previous five games between these teams at the Camp Nou have gone over 3.5 goals.

Real Sociedad vs. Real Madrid
Saturday, December 04, 2021 - 03:00 PM EST at Reale Arena
This is a BIG game for both these teams here, but one would argue more so Real Sociedad. Real Madrid top the league table at the minute and a win for them here could see them out of sight as they would be then 11 points clear of second place, essentially making it theirs to lose.
Sociedad were top of the table for the first quarter of this season but have only picked up 8 points from a possible 15 in their last five league games, which is standard procedure for most teams in the league. Real Madrid on the other hand have seen 15 points from a possible 15 in their last five league games. Sociedad must win if they wish to keep their league title ambitions alive, albeit very ambitious and most likely not on their agenda, either way, they won't want to lose at home to Real Madrid.
Madrid have been long outscoring their xG numbers this season and the amount of goals they scored is much more than expected. Their previous five away games all seen over 2.5 goals and Sociedad’s previous five home games all seen under 2.5 goals. In fact, not a single Sociedad game at home this season has seen over 2.5 goals.
The team with the most goals away from home faces the team with the least amount of goals at home, we are looking to side with the under here at plus +100. We think Sociedad will look to keep things tight and Madrid will be more than happy with a 1-0 / 1-1 draw here we feel. The most possible way this bet goes over is if Sociedad have the lead at halftime. Let's hope for a 0-0 halftime.
