We didn’t fare well on Matchday 14, taking two losses and one push. Matchday 15 in the Spanish La Liga sees two big games take place as underachieving Villarreal takes on underachieving Barcelona.
Valencia vs. Rayo Vallecano
Saturday, November 27, 2021 – 10:15 AM EST at Estadio de Mestalla
This is a big game for Valencia, they managed an encouraging 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad last time out and they are currently five points behind overachieving Vallecano. Rayo are coming off an impressive 3-1 home win over Mallorca last time out.
Although Valencia opened up this La Liga campaign with two home shutouts, since then they have gone on to see both teams scoring in four of their previous five home games. Vallecano were shut out in their first two away games and since then have scored in four of their last five. We see both teams finding the back of the net here and at -110 we believe we are getting some good odds.
A surprise away win for Rayo could see them move up into a Champions League place if other results go their way.
Villarreal vs. Barcelona
Saturday, November 27, 2021 – 3.00 PM EST at Estadio de la Ceramica
The best game on Saturday takes place at Villarreal’s home stadium as Xavi and his Barcelona team travel for this away fixture in the league. Villarreal has been unable to convert draws into wins this season and they have seen a total of seven draws in just thirteen games played.
The Yellow submarine will be very disappointed with their second-half performance in their 2-0 loss to Man Utd during the mid-week. A win for the home team would be huge here as it would put them within one point of Barcelona and closer to the European football spots.
Barcelona began life under new coach Xavi with two clean sheets in a row, but both of those were at the Camp Nou, they now must try to keep just their second away clean sheet. Both these teams will be up for this game and we see this match going over 2.5 goals.
These teams have a habit of scoring when they face each other and all five previous meetings have produced over 2.5 goals as well as three of them seeing over 3.5 goals scored.
Take the over 2.5 goals in this big La Liga clash. A player to look out for as an anytime goalscorer here with Arnaut Danjuma at +130, he has scored four times on home soil thus far this season for Villarreal.
Cadiz vs. Atletico Madrid
Sunday, November 28, 2021 – 12.30pm EST at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla
Our final play this weekend in the La Liga comes from a clash between 16th place Cadiz and the reigning La Liga champions who currently reside in 4th place, four points adrift of league leaders and arch-rivals Real Madrid.
Cadiz has seen the worst home record thus far this season with only four points picked up from a possible 21. Atletico Madrid has been solid away from home and they’ve seen 11 points picked up from a possible 18.
Atletico Madrid are looking to perform for their coach here after a disappointing 1-0 home loss to AC Milan in the Champions League in midweek. Madrid will also be looking to get their first away win in three league games as they have drawn two and lost one of their last three games.
Cadiz are outside the relegation zone for the moment as their away form has helped them pick up eight points on the road. We are looking for an Atletico Madrid bounce back here and we see them winning but under 3.5 goals being scored for our last La Liga pick. Only three of these teams combined past 10 games home and away respectively have seen over 3.5 goals.
