Vlahović Star Man

The team from Florence has made quite an impression worldwide as they are currently in red hot form this season and playing some exciting football with the young Serbian upfront Dušan Vlahović.

The 21-year-old has had much transfer speculation ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, and it’s no wonder why as he has accumulated 15 goals and 2 assists in his 17 appearances thus far this season.

No doubt he is playing a major part in Fiorentina’s success this year, but post-Christmas we could be looking at a very different Fiorentina team if he was to leave. At the time of writing apparently, he rejected the biggest contract offer in Fiorentina’s history, and the main teams looking to sign the young player is said to be Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League.

We could talk about how good Fiorentina is, or how amazing they have been this season, but in reality, most of the heavy lifting has been done by Vlahović. If he was to leave in January, we expect Fiorentina to start falling down the table a bit.

Fiorentina is yet to draw a single game this far this season, having won 10 and losing 7. Although they have picked up 6 wins from their previous 7 matches, they still remain 6 points adrift of a Champions League spot in 4th place.

They have scored two or more goals on home soil in 8 of their last 10 games and 3 or more goals in 6 of their last 10 home games. Interestingly, the only teams they failed to score more than once on at home this season were Napoli and Inter Milan.

Inconsistent Season for Sassuolo

They played amazing football under Roberto de Zerbi, but they are finding life without him a little difficult as they sit 12th in the league table, 5 points adrift of Roma in 6th, and a nice 12 point cushion above the relegation zone.

It’s safe to say they won’t see the drop this year, but they will need to start improving if they want to see themselves in European competition next season.

The team has been very inconsistent this season. Beating AC Milan and Juventus away from home, beating Lazio as locals, and drawing with Napoli at home as well are all amazing results. We then see them drop points to the likes of Empoli and Udinese.

Don’t get us wrong, they're a hard team to beat, we just have to question their lack of motivation when being placed as pre-game favorites at the top-rated sportsbooks. Domenico Berardi has been their top goalscorer so far this season with 8 goals scored in 15 appearances.

Fiorentina vs. Sassuolo Pick

This game screams over 2.5 goals, and we have the stats to back it up which is even better. Fiorentina are 8-0 on home soil this season on the over 2.5 goal line, which is the most at home in the league.

Sassuolo on the road has seen over 2.5 goals scored in all 8 of their away games, making it a perfect 16-0 for both teams seeing over 2.5 goals in their games.

Fiorentina average 2.6 goals per game at home and Sassuolo average 2 goals away from home. Both teams combined are also averaging 29 shots per game. If we see 29 shots here one would suspect at the very least, we will see three goals in this one.

Although we are laying a lot of juice betting -135 for an over 2.5, we urge you to get on this soccer pick as soon as possible because come game time, this could be juiced to as low as -220 or thereabouts. Leaky defenses and goal-scoring ability in both camps mean we are in for an early morning shootout.
