We cashed out European banker last weekend as we saw Barcelona and Espanyol both hitting over 1.5 cards in the game, giving us a 4-2 record now on the season for 1.70 units. This week’s banker comes from the Premier league where we are 2-1 so far this season at our soccer picks.

9th place Brighton takes on struggling Leeds United who is down in 17th place and in a fight for survival at this stage of the season. Brighton is +105 to win, the draw is available to bet at +240 with BetOnline and Leeds United to pick up an away win are +280 with Intertops.

Brighton Starting to Slump

After an amazing start to the season (winning four of the opening five games), Brighton has found itself struggling in recent weeks. In all competitions since their opening five games, they have played eight games, losing three and drawing five.

They did manage to draw 0-0 against Arsenal and 2-2 against Liverpool, which are strong results in their own right, but having not won in nine games now has almost undone all their hard work at the start of the season. They also drew 0-0 against Norwich, a game in which they could have won.

Brighton will see this as a great opportunity to get their main man Neal Maupay backfiring. Mapuey has not scored now in six games, is it any coincidence the winless streak has coincided with Maupye’s goalless streak? Although Brighton has many players who can score and they don’t solely rely on Mapuey, he is a vital key in their attacking armor. It might be a big out there and a market we don’t bet much, if ever but Mapuey to score first at +450 looks like a good play here if he starts. Both his home goals this season has come before halftime.

When Will We Get the Old Leeds Back?

Last season Leeds came back to the Premier League for the first time in almost 20 years and they managed a very respectable 9th place finish, although the one concern that many pundits had was their style of play requires a lot of work from the team and given their effort to achieve promotion and then a 9th place finish in their first year back in the Premier League could lead to a dip in form due to long term fatigue.

The big question is are Leeds just going throw a bad patch or is this due to long term player fatigue? Either way they need to do something to fix it because getting relegated back to the championship next year was not in their plans at the start of the season.

Leeds only two wins this season have come against 19th place Norwich and 16th place Watford, other than those two wins they have lost five and drawn five. We can’t be too harsh on Leeds, although they have underachieved and underperformed all around this season, they have faced seven teams who finished inside the top ten last season.

That being said, there are never any easy games in the Premier League. This will be a difficult game away to Brighton and they have lost their previous five h2hs to nil in their last five visits to the Amex stadium.

Brighton vs. Leeds United Pick

Two teams desperate for a win facing off against each other here, hence the reason we are targeting the cards market and we are going to take both teams to see over 1.5 cards in the game at odds on -120.

It’s a little bit of juice to give up but we believe this game has the potential to get feisty and Brighton at home have been averaging 2.33 cards per game (the 4th most at home) and Leeds have averaged 3.0 cards away from home (the most cards in the Premier League on the road).

In terms of the referee, Craig Pawson, he is not overly favorable as he only averages 3.5 cards per game, but we believe we can cash this bet even with Pawson as referee. Brighton has seen 10 fouls per game on home soil and Leeds 13 fouls per game away from home.
