Manchester City FC vs. Leicester City FC

Sunday, December 26, 2021 – 10:00 AM EST at Etihad Stadium

Form, Mentality, Premier League Odds and Trends

  • Manchester City have avoided defeat in 42 of their previous 48 domestic meetings
  • Manchester City have scored one or more goals in 11 straight fixtures
  • Leicester have won a mere one game in their last six EPL appearances

The Titleholders Reinstate Their Dominance

Manchester City has seemingly found the elite-level form that assisted them in claiming last season's Premier League trophy.

Last time out, the blue side of Manchester participated in a one-sided affair that saw them put four goals past Newcastle in hostile territory. A quick return to the Etihad on Boxing Day, and they'll be looking to extend their golden spell a step close to double-digits when welcoming Leicester City.

Exits from the Europa League early December and the EFL Cup this past Wednesday have summed up Leicester City's season thus far. Struggles to establish form and maintain it has been the story of their season; sitting in 9th place of the Premier League doesn't become more daunting with a plague of injuries when heading to Manchester on Sunday.

Manchester City has overcome the defensive fragility on display during the early matchdays of the 2021/22 EPL season, as they're now boasting ten wins from their last eleven competitive fixtures. Success against Leicester could extend their domestic winning streak to nine consecutive Premier League wins.

Final Thoughts | Premier League Betting Picks

The irony that England's deepest squad with countless world-class players on the bench has avoided the recent coronavirus outbreak doesn't bode well for Manchester City's foes. Kyle Walker and Ferran Torres are the lone absentees on Pep Guardiola's team whilst the Foxes battle with positive COVID-19 tests side-lining significant faces.

To make matters worse for the traveling Leicester City team, the home side has scored three or more goals on ten occasions this term, and the visitor's COVID issues have affected their defense more than any other position. In addition, Leicester had already suffered from unsuccessful away trips in all meetings outside of clashes with newly-promoted clubs.

The available betting odds naturally lean towards a Manchester City victory, but I anticipate we could be for another lopsided victory in favor of the English Champions. And with that in mind, betting on the Citizens to win both halves is offering plus-money – a tempting offer I cannot ignore.

Score Prediction: Man City 4 – Leicester 1

Norwich City FC vs. Arsenal FC

Sunday, December 26, 2021 - 10:00 AM EST at Carrow Road

Form, Mentality, Premier League Odds and Trends

  • Norwich has failed to score in their three previous EPL meetings
  • Norwich concedes an average of 1.95 goals in all competitions
  • Arsenal are undefeated in 15 of their last 18 fixtures

The Canaries Honeymoon Has Concluded Alongside Dean Smith

Relegation battlers and newly promoted side Norwich City weren't expected to make a significant impact on this season's EPL table. Still, a mere two wins across seventeen matchdays have positioned them in the division's last-place position.

Newly appointed manager Dean Smith brought a short honeymoon period with him, but even his expertise couldn't fix the long-standing issues at Carrow Road.

And like multiple other English sides this weekend, Norwich have been gravely hit with COVID-19 absences.

Arsenal's early-season downfall is nothing but a distant memory. Mikel Arteta's squad has reached the EFL semi-final and won nine of their previous twelve meetings in all competitions.

Evolving from a mid-table squad this term to maintaining a top-four positioning has relied on consistency; therefore, confidence will be high for the Gunners when faced with a declining Norwich squad.

Final Thoughts | Premier League Betting Picks

Interestingly, Arsenal has lost two games from their twenty-three domestic appearances on December 26th, a London tradition that evidently handles the aftermath of Christmas celebrations to a professional standard.

With that said, I believe the likes of Odegaard, Lacazette, and Martinelli could chug one-two-many glasses of wine and overindulge on yule log but still deliver a winning performance versus a discouraged, depleted, and injury-ridden Norwich squad.

Moneyline odds on the Gunners isn't exactly the value play, but a -1 handicap to support Norwich's goal-conceding average of two goals per game puts bettors in a comfortable position for positive profits.

Score Prediction: Norwich City 0 – Arsenal 3
