Brighton & Hove Albion FC vs. Tottenham Hotspur FC

Saturday, October 08, 2022 – 12:30 PM EDT at The American Express Community Stadium

Premier League Trends

  • Over 2.5 goals landed in Tottenham’s previous 3 EPL games
  • Tottenham has scored 1 or more goals in 13 consecutive EPL meetings
  • Brighton’s previous 3 EPL games have produced over 2.5 goals
  • Brighton scores an average of 2.00 goals in their home games

Top six clash

To the surprise of many, Brighton has maintained their position in the top six of the English Premier League standings through nine matchdays and is currently in fourth place with 14 points. We’re still in the early stages of the 2022/23 EPL season.

Still, thus far, the creation of Graham Potter has remained solid since the arrival of coach Roberto De Zerbi following a 3-3 draw debut game for the Italian against Liverpool last weekend.

The Seagulls are flying high, sitting above Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool in the current standings, as they’ve notably lost just one game this term. They’ll be the fresher of the two teams when facing Spurs on Saturday afternoon.

A positive result would lead them comfortably into more straightforward fixtures versus Brentford and Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal hangover

After a 3-1 defeat in their North London derby against the Gunners last weekend, Tottenham couldn’t kick the hangover and tied with Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek Champions League action.

Antonio Conte’ shouldn’t be too concerned; however, his team is third in the table with five wins, two draws, and one loss.

Tired legs could be an issue for Conte and co. with a problematic October/November schedule ahead with the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle, Liverpool, and crucial European fixtures waiting in the wings, it isn’t easy to know where Spurs are placing their priorities.

Brighton vs. Tottenham: Odds and Prediction

The available EPL odds at top-rated sportsbooks expect a Spurs win, but both teams are positioned with plus-money odds at +170 and +155, respectively.

If we’re judging Brighton based on their season outings thus far, expecting Tottenham to collect a win this weekend isn’t a viable betting position.

Instead, we should look towards the goalscoring market, as both teams have been reluctant to hold clean sheets in three consecutive games.

Score Prediction: Brighton 2 - Spurs 2

Manchester City FC vs. Southampton FC

Saturday, October 08, 2022 - 10:00 AM EDT at Etihad Stadium

Premier League Trends

  • Man City have scored a combined 27 goals from their previous 6 games in all competitions
  • Man City are unbeaten in 41 of their last 44 games in all competitions
  • Southampton concedes an average of 1.75 goals in their EPL away fixtures
  • Southampton has conceded at least 1 goal in 18 consecutive EPL games

Can Anybody Stop Haaland?

They aren’t sitting in first place of the Premier League table.

Still, Manchester City’s continuous dismantling of teams has already guaranteed a successful title defense in the eyes of most critics.

And this opinion is mainly due to the unbelievable efforts of their record-breaking superstar Erling Haaland.

The Citizens are the only undefeated team in the 2022/23 EPL season so far.

Haaland vs. Ronaldo and Messi

Unless a tragic injury or suspension can sideline the Norwegian soccer god, it’s challenging to visualize any team throughout Europe overcoming Pep Guardiola’s men.

To put Haaland’s masterful skills into perspective, the 22-year-old has scored 154 goals in 194 professional appearances (19 for Man City in 12 games).

At the same age, Cristiano Ronaldo had only achieved 53 goals in 214 games, and Lionel Messi netted 80 goals in 162 matches, and I say “only” very lightly.

The Relegation Zone is Looming

While a Haaland-led Manchester City looks unstoppable in all competitions, their weekend opponents won’t be thrilled to visit the most fearsome team in Europe as Southampton battles to avoid the relegation zone.

With a mere seven points from eight domestic meetings this term, a trip to the Etihad isn’t likely to alter Southampton’s abysmal away form, where they’ve failed to score a goal in their previous two road trips.

The Premier League rumor mill suggests that manager Ralph Hassenhúttl is fighting for his job, and this isn’t surprising after losing separate fixtures by 9-0 scorelines.

That tally could easily enter double digits as another landslide victory is expected for Manchester City on Saturday, and the Saints will literally require a miracle to find a result against Europe’s elite.

Manchester City vs. Southampton: Odds and Prediction

The current Premier League odds expect Manchester City to do what they do best, tear apart the opposition's defense. A -1000 moneyline, however, doesn’t give us much betting firepower.

The Citizens have attacked from the opening whistle of late.

After netting four goals in the first half of the Manchester derby last weekend, expect two goals in the first 45 minutes against a deflated Southampton squad feels like a wagering gift for -143.

Score Prediction: Man City 4 - Southampton 1
