World Cup 2022 Group G Breakdown: Brazil

So far, the highly respected Brazil teams that remain untouchable in the 21st century all had one thing in common, attacking prowess and style. The Selecao have, to a certain extent, lost this touch somewhere throughout the past twenty years, but we're witnessing a resurgence. The sheer depth of talent in the final third is unfathomable, and they should sail into the Round of 16 from Group G.

Tournaments of the past saw Brazil rely on Neymar. But now, alongside the number ten's incredible talents are the charismatic styles of Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison, Vinicius Jr., and Raphinha. To understand how deep this squad truly goes, we won't even see the talents of Antony, Rodrygo, or Matheus Cunha, amongst many others, due to the limitation on team sizes.

Brazil's talent doesn't stop upfront; they boast a notable midfield and center-back and have notably won all seven games since February, with an average of 3.4 goals netted in those meetings. Under the tutelage of head coach Tite, the Brazilians have scored 164 goals and conceded 27 in 76 games.

Brazil vs. Europe

One of the most challenging aspects of analyzing the 2022 World Cup is when we're forced to compare the betting favorites and top soccer pick, Brazil, against the European talent arriving in Qatar. Brazil hasn't played a European World Cup team since losing to Belgium in 2018.

That said, when we compare current form, analytics, and overall squad depth to the likes of England, tournament matchup betting markets, where you can bet which team will advance further, become tempting. Brazil's to advance beyond England in the World Cup is currently -155, and this value cannot be ignored when reviewing the contrasting forms of each squad.

When focussing on Brazil's Group G outings, expecting the over to hit could become a regularity. As Switzerland will be their most formidable challenge of the group stage and the most likely team to stand of chance of scoring, wagering on the over 2 ½ goals for this fixture offers a tidy set of odds and a stress-free bet that doesn't involve picking a winner.

World Cup 2022 Group G Breakdown: Switzerland

If Brazil should be wary of any Group G team, it must be Switzerland. Not only did the Swiss overcome Portugal this past summer, but they also returned with an emphatic display to impressively defeat Spain.

Switzerland's experience qualifying for the knockout stages during their major tournament outings has made them a favorite to join Brazil in the Qatar 2022 Round of 16. Still, their advancement could be stunted with a final group stage meeting against Serbia.

The runner-up of Group G could face Portugal in a Round of 16 clash, which doesn't bode well for the Portuguese, who've lost to both Switzerland and Serbia in recent months.

The Swiss side will understand of winning their fixture against Cameroon, as they're unquestionably the weakest side in the group. Losing this game would severely damage Murat Yakin's men of reaching the knockout stages, and for a price of -140 on the moneyline, backing the Swiss to win this game feels like a no-brainer World Cup 2022 betting situation.

World Cup 2022 Group G Breakdown: Serbia

Serbia stunned the Portuguese on the final day of qualification and has since then taken on the role of Qatar's most underlying dark horse, similar to Croatia during Russia 2018. Do they have the capability of reaching the final? That's a far stretch of the imagination, but the optimism surrounding this side is wholly justified.

Alongside their unpredictable win against Portugal during WC qualifiers, they also defeated Sweden (4-1) and Norway on two occasions during the Nations League campaign.

The likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic shouldn't be overlooked as world-class Serbian players. And when facing Cameroon, much like Switzerland, the importance of winning this game is imperative. After succeeding against elite squads this year, Cameroon should ultimately feel like a walk in the park regarding difficulty levels.

World Cup 2022 Group F Breakdown: Cameroon

Cameroon, unfortunately, will enter the 2022 Qatar World Cup as one of the lowest-ranked (FIFA) squads and will be pitted against the competition's favorites. Any hope of qualifying for the Round of 16 would be based on how they can perform against Serbia and the Swiss.

Friendlies against Uzbekistan and South Korea that resulted in consecutive losses don't bode well for the Cameroonians' chances. Manager Rigobert Song has his work cut out for him in Qatar, and it wouldn't be surprising to witness Cameroon exit the competition with three straight losses.
