The Dallas Wings are back at full strength Friday night and they will need it with the talented Los Angeles Sparks coming to town. Which side to bet on this game? Read on as we break down the WNBA odds for tonight’s matchup.

Los Angeles Sparks vs. Dallas Wings

Friday, July 01, 2022 – 08:00 PM EDT at College Park Center

Wings Reinforcements

The Wings started hot to open the season but an injury to one of their best players has sent them into a 3-7 SU slump over their last 10 games.

That may change tonight though. Not only do the Wings get back Alisha Gray after missing the last two games with an ankle injury, but Satou Sabally is back as well after missing the last seven games with a knee injury. There’s no word on a potentiall minutes restriction for either, but it’s likely.

This is huge for the Wings though. Gray is double figure scorer and a big threat from deep while Sabally is one of the bright young superstars in the WNBA.

Wings Crusing on Offense

These two being back tonight will be a big boost for this offense and even without Sabally for the last seven games, the Wings have been cruising on offense behind Arike Ogunbowale.

Now with Gray and Sabally back in the lineup, the Wings have a distinct advantage on offense against one of the worst defenses in the W. LA has struggled this season on defense, allowing 105.2 points per 100 possessions overall.

This has led them to run a pretty fast-paced offense due to them playing from behind a lot. The Sparks play at the fourth-fastest pace in the WNBA and that increases to third when they play on the road.

Combine that with the Wings being a team that can hit you with a lot of offense early in games and that could lead us to a nice first half betting pick on this game.

The Sharp Pick

The Wings rank seventh in offensive efficiency at home this season which isn’t terribly impressive, but they have done it with Sabally missing most of those games.

They also have posted really good first half offensive numbers at home. Only the Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces have a better offensive efficiency, at home, in first halves this season.

Sparks Struggling on Defense

This is exactly the area the Sparks have struggled too. On the road the Sparks are allowing 108.3 points per 100 possessions during first halves. I do think the Wings have a good pathway to cover the first half spread but I’m betting the over on the first half total as a safer play.

Dallas’ defense has allowed 109.1 points per 100 possessions in their last five first halves and three of those games were at home. One of them was against these same Sparks as well. Without Sabally, the Wings still dropped 50 first half points on the Sparks and allowed 45.

I doubt we see that many combined points scored tonight but with the Wings back to full strength, it’s definitely possible. Sabally being back will help the defense, but the potential for her to be limited and not quite in shape discounts that enough for me to still like the over here.
