Max All the Way
Max Verstappen stomped home to victory in the season opener and we were lucky enough to get on the Dutchman at only -117. We knew those odds were the best we could get for quite some time on the Red Bull driver as he leads this weekend’s race-winner betting market at -200 odds.
Elsewhere Charles Leclerc had engine trouble on lap 33, ending his race while Oscar Piastri and Esteban Ocon also ended their race due to mechanical issues. Aston Martin put their money where their on-track performances were during the Bahrain GP when they finished in third and fifth respectably.
When we consider Aston Martin finished seventh in the Constructors’ Championship last season this is even more impressive. That was also Fernando Alonso’s first podium in Formula 1 since Qatar 2021 when driving for Alpine and it was just his second podium in 145 Formula 1 races.
The most disappointed team at the Bahrain GP would have no doubt been McLaren who finished 17th and had a retirement.
Jeddah Corniche Circuit
This will be just the second season that this track appears on the Formula 1 calendar. Last season’s race here was interesting as Mick Schumacher didn’t appear in the race due to a bad qualifying accident and Yuki Tsunoda didn’t even start the race thanks to a power unit issue.
During the race, there was a further four retirements with three due to mechanical issues and one was an accident from Canadian driver Nicholas Latifi driving for Williams. The track has undergone some better safety regulations ahead of this year’s Grand Prix.
The Jeddah Corniche Circuit is 8.3 miles long and has a lot of straights, meaning it will suit the cars that get the most performance out of straight-line speed as opposed to cornering.

Saudi Arabia GP Betting Picks
Top Two Finish
Red Bull has won 11 of the previous 12 Formula 1 races dating back to last season and Max Verstappen alone has now won 10 of those 12. Based on this and the fact Verstappen won the Saudi Arabian GP last season from fourth position on the grid, this makes us weary of opposing the current world champion.
With that said we are not in the business of laying -200 odds on an F1 race winner when the possibility for a DNF to occur is always looming over you. Red Bull is flying right now and Sergio Perez has finished inside the top two in five of the previous seven races, so we are happy to take the Mexican to do so again at -115 betting odds for a top-two finish during this weekend’s Saudi Arabian GP.
If you are looking to oppose the Red Bulls and wish to take an outsider for your betting picks, we would favor Charles Leclerc at +1000 as the Monaco driver finished second here last season by just half a second behind Verstappen.

Both Cars to Be Classified
McLaren is not looking good right now. They suffered big time in the Bahrain GP, and have now had three DNFs from a possible six in their previous three F1 races dating back to last season.
We really like the odds of either McLaren not finishing this race at +100. They are the joint favorites along with Alfa Romeo and Alpha Tauri. In our opinion, they should be the favorites if even slightly so. They had a gearbox issue at this track last season and new driver Oscar Piastri has never driven this track before during a non-simulated race.
Formula 1 Pick: McLaren Both Classified – No (+100) at BetOnline
