Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Montreal Alouettes

Thursday, August 04, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium

Montreal Alouettes Analysis

The toughest of home field tasks await the Alouettes this week with the visit of the reigning Grey Cup holders, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Last week the Hamilton Tiger-Cats put together their most complete display of 2022 when comprehensively outplaying the Alouettes who but for a consolation last quarter 11-0 would have been viewing a 6-24 loss.

Quarterback, Trevor Harris took a late hit, and it remains to be seen how serious any potential injury is. He was responsible for the pass to the single touchdown scorer, Hergy Mayala, after throwing just under 300-yards but a completion rate of 62.5% showed how strong the Ticats were in defense and will need to be improved upon.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Analysis

There's no let-up from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in pursuit of a third straight Grey Cup with another measured tough victory, this time against the Calgary Stampeders. Calgary pushed the Bombers close but as seems to be their way, the Blue Bombers managed to up the ante at the right times.

Wide receiver, Dalton Schoen with a brace of touchdowns continues his impressive season and takes his tally to 6. Quarterback, Zach Collaros continued his good form with a 75% completion rate while throwing those 2 touchdowns plus 2 others for Winnipeg.

Winnipeg, head coach, Mike O'Shea led the praise for Collaros saying, “He’s so smart and couple that with his athleticism and vision”. He explained how important his coolness under pressure was to the team further when he said, “He's got unreal vision that allows him to do those things”.

Blue Bombers vs. Alouettes: CFL Betting Pick

Last week readers and followers made a few dollars when the Alouettes got beat. Again, it’s extremely difficult for me to make a case on them winning the moneyline vs. the Blue Bombers.

The next step is to take a look at the spread which sits at less than a touchdown.

With that in mind, let’s trust the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to cover at -110 with Heritage Sports.

Calgary Stampeders vs. Ottawa Redblacks

Friday, August 05, 2022 - 07:30 PM EDT at TD Place

Ottawa Redblacks Analysis

A huge collective sigh of relief would have gone around Ottawa last week when the Redblacks gained their first 2022 CFL win at their seventh attempt.

Wide receiver, Jaelon Acklin went on full aerial assault on Sunday night with close to 150-yards receiving and one touchdown. Caleb Evans had a strong game at quarterback assuming the position as his, as the season goes forward with close to 300-yards and importantly a completion rate way over 70%.

Five of their six previous losses were in close games as I’ve discussed in recent weeks and getting that win should be a ‘monkey off the back” in Ottawa.

Calgary Stampeders Analysis

Rarely can you say a team was impressive in defeat and yes, ‘impressive’ could be the wrong word. Let's just say the 28-35 loss to the Grey Cup holders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers answered more questions than it provoked.

That loss to Winnipeg was a match of the highest quality with the Bombers holding the Stampeders at bay, just. Calgary head coach Dave Dickinson said, “It was frustrating to lose, proud of our guys. I’m not down on our players at all”.

Veteran linebacker, James Thurman felt he could have done more in defense and took ownership of the 430 yards they gave up, which was 70 more than what the Winnipeg Blue Bombers conceded in this hard-fought match.

There’s plenty of room for optimism with Ka'Deem Carey scoring 2 touchdowns in front of the home fans where his children were sat. Kicker, Rene Paredes had another perfect game as he does, even managing a career-best 53-yard field goal in the first half.

Stampeders vs. Redblacks: CFL Betting Pick

There was plenty to like from the Stampeders' loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and those experiences could be pivotal for an improving team.

The Ottawa Redblacks however, will be buoyed by their first long overdue CFL win of 2022 so we have an extremely interesting contest in the offing. Those Redblacks have the home-field advantage which has to be a slight positive and I’m expecting a close match.

Looking at the top-rated sportsbooks, the option I am going to use is the moneyline for the Calgary Stampeders with Bovada.

CFL Pick: Calgary Stampeders ML (-200) at Bovada (visit our Bovada Review)
