We are heading to the second last race of the season in the middle east as we will see our first ever Formula1 race taking place in Saudi Arabia. Max Verstappen holds an 8 points advantage over Lewis Hamilton and this title race should go to the wire with the final race taking place at the curtain closer in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Hamilton has all the momentum having won the previous two races and the sportsbooks reflect that as he is -200 to win here in Saudi Arabia. Verstappen is best priced at +225 at the betting odds.

Hamilton Gains Points in Qatar GP

We managed to cash our best bet in the last race as we saw 18 classified drivers, which cashed for us at +130. Hamilton managed to pull back a few points on the championship leader Max Verstappen at the Qatar GP as he won the race, followed by Verstappen.

Hamilton and Verstappen have now seen a 1st and 2nd place finish in 12 of 20 races thus far this season and this shows how strong and dominant they have been. Considering Hamilton in 2nd place has a total of 343.5 points and his teammate Valtteri Bottas sits in third with just 203 points, a massive 130 points behind. Sergio Perez is a staggering 161.5 points behind Verstappen.

Before Hamilton’s back to back race wins many would have said Verstappen had one hand on the championship, now he can hear the “jaws” theme song is his head as Hamilton is slowly gaining on him.

Formula1 Pre Race Stats and Facts

  • This will be the first-ever F1 race to be held in Saudi Arabia. There has been much criticism brought towards the head of Formula1 (FIA) for staging a race in Saudi Arabia given the human rights abuse that reportedly takes place. With that being said the race will be going ahead. Reports say the FIA struck a decade-long deal to race in the country.
  • The track itself is in a region called Jeddah and it will be the “world fastest” street circuit.
  • Interestingly the track was designed with the help of several F1 teams in order to create a true overtaking circuit and not have to rely so much on the DRS zones.
  • The track has a lot of potential going for it as it will be the track with the most turn in this year’s calendar and will also be the second-longest on the calendar (behind Belgium’s Spa)
  • The average speed is predicted to be 155 mph and it will also be a night race.

Winning Driver Odds

Formula1 Race Picks

We have two plays for you fine folks this weekend, one plus money and one juiced play. Let’s start with the juice. So last time out we took between 17 and 18 finishers, this time around we are looking at under 17.5 classified drivers at odds of -135.

Although it’s a play that has won just twice in 20 races this season, we feel the “world’s fastest” street circuit has the potential to throw up a few non-finishes here. This will also be the driver’s first time driving here in a full race, meaning the tracks’ race conditions is completely unknown to them.

Yes, they will have done hundreds of simulated laps, etc. But nothing beats the race conditions. This means we need 4 or more drivers to not be classified. Our second selection is against the grain a little bit. Hamilton has all the momentum and all the confidence and the slightly better car right now, but do we really want to be betting him at -200 and leaving the world championship leader off our F1 card at odds of +225?

Although it’s said to be a super-fast track that will suit Hamilton’s Mercedes, we must respect Red Bulls’ dominance at street circuits this year and for us, we feel the value lies with Verstappen here at plus money.
