The Shotgun Format of the growing LIV Golf Tour could be employed efficiently this week as the LIV Golf schedule moves over to Asia for their first event in Thailand, the LIV Golf Invitational at Stonehill.

The track is a privately owned course just to the North of Bangkok and sets the professionals a very different test from previous events.

So far, with one event in England and the rest in the United States, this week will see the Asian players have home advantage over their well-known counterparts who have held sway so far.

LIV Golf Invitational at Stonehill

Will the Liv Golf Shotgun Format Be Perfect for This Week?

What does home advantage mean? For the Asian players, it is a familiarity with the muggy oppressive hot and humid conditions that are forecast for the coming week.

It will be interesting to see how much the Shotgun format potentially improves the event with a constant forecast of thundery showers and lightning-threatening proceedings.

My inclination is that the LIV Shotgun format will be applied perfectly allowing play to be continuous and completed during fair-weather periods.

Can Sadom Cope With Home Expectations?

This week’s LIV Golf at Stonehill will be well received by local fans who have the chance to cheer on their young superstar, Sadom Kaewkanjana.

Regular readers and followers will know that the twenty-four-year-old from Thailand is a player that I have been following closely in recent months.

His progression from top amateur to professional has been seamless with an 11th place finish at the Open Championship in July, his career highlight at the highest level.

Since the Open, he has performed eye-catching well on the LIV Golf Tour at the Boston event where despite eventually finishing 13th, he led the event at top-rated sportsbooks with nine holes to play.

Is the Pressure Too Much?

Home expectations in Thailand could go two ways, sometimes it inspires, sometimes it’s too much pressure on the player’s shoulders, but I believe this aggressive up-and-coming player will love the home support while being perfectly suited to conditions and this could be his big chance!

A year ago, at this time, the Thai golfing superstar went on a real heater with three wins in four events on the Asian Tour and remarkably has accumulated eight tournament wins in the hemisphere to illustrate why this week is his big chance!

With his aggressive approach, Sadom Kaewkanjana will not die wondering so let’s go for it at the attractive long-shot price of +12500 at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review).

Sadom might be “in with the new” but Westwood isn’t ready to be “out with the old!” There is an old expression that goes, “out with the old, in with the new”. I am not sure veteran Englishman Lee Westwood has ever read that script and this week’s LIV Golf event at Stonehill brings an opportunity for him to prove that further.

Will Westwood Thrive in Bangkok?

Yes, I think there are several reasons why we should expect Lee Westwood to play well at Stonehill this week.

Firstly, for many years, Lee Westwood has been a regular visitor on a couple of occasions during the calendar to Asia and Thailand, in fact, over a twenty-five-year period, the forty-nine-year-old Englishman has won two Thailand Golf Championships and six other Asian Tour wins.

Secondly, last week, Westwood chose not to enter the Dunhill Links Championship, an event he won in 2003. The fact that he chose not to enter and acclimatize for this week’s event becomes a tip, in itself, showing consciously, that the veteran globe trotter prioritized this week’s Liv Golf Invitational at Stonehill.

You could argue that Westwood might have been avoiding potential conflict at the Dunhill Links but he’s no “shrinking violet” and he turned up at the PGA Championship a couple of weeks previously with a trademark strong performance.

Fans Do Not Support Westwood

To be honest, the amount of derision the veteran superstar of European Golf endured for his decision to join LIV Golf was disgusting and unwarranted in many golfing fans’ eyes given his years of service to the sport and European Golf in particular.

There is no derision from me towards Lee Westwood, but rather grateful for still being able to enjoy his superlative golf and profitable punting on him when the opportunity arises, this week is that opportunity!

Take Lee Westwood to win this week’s LIV Golf at Stonehill with BetOnline at the price of +3300 at modest stakes while adding a meatier wager on the top 10 option.
