The Hero World Challenge is an end-of-year event hosted by Tiger Woods and benefiting the Tiger Woods Foundation. The event was founded in 2000 and the Albany Golf Course has played host since 2015. Low scoring will likely be the feature of the week at this big hitters’ paradise in the Bahamas for this elite field of twenty players.
Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th of December at Albany Golf Course
Par 72 – 7302 yards
On first look into this week’s 2021 Hero World Challenge, it was the name of Patrick Reed who stuck out like a sore thumb at the prices. Plenty of +3300 and +4000 was bandied about early by the betting firms and that is too big for the thirty-one-year-old Texan.
Yes, all golf fans know there have been times when Patrick Reed has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons, but his CV bears the closest scrutiny. The 2018 Masters was the highlight of his career so far, but he’s won two World Golf Championships, two FedEx Playoff events, and four other PGA Tour events in nine years.
That’s impressive indeed let alone the fact that he’s a regular commuter to the European Tour while always having the most packed of schedules amongst the world-leading players. There can never be any doubt about his commitment to his profession and to coin a well-known phrase when his career is over, ‘he will have left it all out there on the pitch.
For those reasons, we can be dam sure Patrick Reed will be giving it maximum effort this week and his record at Albany Golf Course is exceptional, reading, 3rd in 2019, 5th in 2017, 2nd in 2015, and 3rd in 2014. That maximum effort could in theory be intensified further by the fact he’s yet to win the Hero World Challenge despite that superb form. Patrick Reed has a very strong look to me at the price of +2800 with Intertops and adds the top 5 markets for good measure.

We know motivation is likely lacking for many this week in the Bahamas, so it makes sense to look for the players proven at this time of year and Albany Golf Course. No one fits that scenario better than the Swede, Henrik Stenson who incidentally is the defending champion from 2019 after missing 2020 for the obvious reasons.
His affinity for golf in the Bahamas at the Albany Golf Course doesn’t end there as runner-up finishes here in 2016 and 2014 illustrate. It’s fair to point out he was 4th in 2018 so there’s no course better for Stenson to remind golf fans he still has what it takes at the highest level.
I did think back in August, that Stenson was back close to his best on the European Tour with 4th at the Czech Masters followed by 3rd at the European Masters, but he’s barely played since over in America. On a week where there are so many worries about players’ motivation it’s a good strategy to try a long shot who has supreme course form so take Henrik Stenson’s price of +6000 with BetOnline to win the Hero World Challenge while adding a top 5 finish with the same firm.
