The Minnesota Wild travel to the Big Apple tonight to face the N.Y. Rangers, Minnesota is seeking their 4th consecutive win, whilst the Rangers will be looking for a bounce-back win after suffering a 5-3 road loss to the Blue Jackets last night. Let’s dissect the NHL odds so that you can keep cashing out!

Minnesota Wild vs. New York Rangers

Friday, January 28, 2022 – 8:00 PM EST at Madison Square Garden

Minnesota Wild

The Wild have been very strong in recent weeks with a 6-0-2 record in 2022, they have averaged 4.4 goals across those 8 games and allowed 2.8 goals per game. This Wild have the third-best offense in the league based on goals per game but their power play is ranked just 21st, which could be a concern heading into New York.

Minnesota went and put 8 past the Montréal Canadiens in their last NHL outing three days ago and they come into this game having had more rest than their opponents. The Wild are unfortunate that they are in the Central Division as they currently sit 4th in both their division and conference, the top four teams in the Central Division are also the top four in the Western Conference.

It will be interesting to see the red hot Mats Zuccarello get on the scoreboard against his former team, he has now scored 9 points in his previous 9 NHL games, Zuccarello to score a point tonight is -140 with the best online sportsbooks.

New York Rangers

Long-term Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is having his jersey number retired tonight in a ceremony before the game and their current number one goaltender Igor Shesterkin is a potential Hart Trophy Award winner and Vezina Trophy candidate as he sits top of the NHL standings in expected saves per game. The Rangers do farewell on back-to-backs as they have won five of their last six and on home ice, they have one of the best NHL records sitting at 13-3-2.

The Rangers are an amazing regular-season team, but their style of play could hinder them in the playoffs. With a world-class goaltender and Chris Kreider keeping up his scoring ratio the Rangers could pose a threat.

The Rangers currently are tied for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division and sit fifth overall in the Eastern Conference.

Betting Predictions

This play tonight really is a no-brainer, we take the home team who are plus money who have a much superior goaltender, have a proven home record, and have shown us they can win back-to-back games.

Igor Shesterkin has been very strong in net this season and there’s no doubt he will want to win this game more than any to pay his tributes and respect to the retirement of a former Rangers goaltender jersey number. By all means, this is no “gimme” for the Rangers but in our opinion, the value lies with them at +100.

For our NHL pick, we would be more than happy to bet this Rangers team as low as -120 so to get +100 is amazing. The home crowd and strong Rangers defense and goaltending should upset the Minnesota Wild here.
