Although we have just three games available on today’s NHL card, we have found some nice value spots in two of the three matches.
Can the Philadelphia Flyers keep on winning as underdogs in Florida and will Colorado make it 9 wins from 10 home games against the Winnipeg Jets?
Check out what our best NHL picks and player prop bets are for tonight.
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Florida Panthers
Wednesday, October 19, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at FLA Live Arena
Panthers Prop Bets: Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk
We are rolling with two Florida players in a same game multi bet to see 3 or more shots on net each at NHL odds of +150. Florida play host to the high Flying Philadelphia Flyers who have gone 3-0 despite being underdogs in all three games.
Is this just an early season purple patch or are the Flyers to be respected? Either way, we heavily like the Panthers' chances of winning tonight’s game. The Flyers' win over the Lightning last night was just their 2nd in their previous 10 road games.
Sam Bennett has averaged 2.50 shots per game this season and going back to last season he averaged just over 3 shots per game.
New signing Matthew Tkachuk has averaged 4.2 shots per game this season and last season when playing with the Calgary Flames had 3.1 shots per game.
I expect the Panthers to get shots on net and put up a few goals.
Flyers Prop Bet: Anthony DeAngelo
Florida might score a few goals but they also concede quite a bit averaging 3.1 goals per game at home but also allowing 3.3 goals against.
Flyers defender Tony DeAngelo (who recently joined from the Carolina Hurricanes) has been one of the team’s biggest starts this season. He has three points in three games and last season scored 51 points in 64 games for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Of those 51 points, 41 of them were assists and throughout DeAngelo’s career, he has scored 126 assists compared to 35 goals. We believe the Flyers can get 2, maybe even 3 goals on this Florida team.
Let’s hope DeAngelo can be one of the playmakers for the 4th time in a row for his new team.
NHL Prop Pick: Over 0.5 Assist (-114) at BetOnline
Winnipeg Jets vs. Colorado Avalanche
Wednesday, October 19, 2022 - 08:00 PM EDT at Ball Arena
Avalanche Prop Bet: Valeri Nichushkin
27-year-old Russian-born Valeri Nichushkin has been on fire so far this season for the Avalanche and has put up 6 points in his first three games for the team. Only Nathan MacKinnon has more.
We like the Avalanche to put up a few goals on home ice tonight, they have put 5/6/5 goals past their opponents so far this season and we suspect they will do the same tonight.
We imagine Nichushkin will be amongst the points scorers if that is the case.
We also like the fact that he has played the 3rd most amount of minutes so far this season for the Avalanche. It should give us extra minutes to get on the scoreboard.
NHL Prop Pick: Over 0.5 Points (-175) at BetOnline
Jets Prop Bet: Kyle Connor
One of the Jets' main treats in front of nets is Kyle Connor and he has been by far the team's highest shot taker having had the most shots on the team in 4 of the past 5 regular seasons and postseasons and the one he didn’t win he was tied for first place so technically he joints won.
Connor has taken 3 and 4 shots respectively this season, which is 1 and 2 more than we need to cash out selection tonight.
Let’s ride with Connor to be the main shot taker and see over 2.5 shots on net for the Winnipeg Jets at -180.
Alternatively, if you don’t like laying this much juice, if your top-rated sportsbooks have an option for a same game multi bet, you can add Kyle Connor over 2.5 shots along with Valeri Nichushkin over 0.5 points for around NHL parlays odds of +160.
NHL Prop Pick: Over 2.5 Shots (-180) at BetOnline
