Fourth place in the Metropolitan Division, the Pittsburgh Penguins head out to Sin City tonight to take on the top of the Pacific Division, the Vegas Golden Knights.

Can Vegas get back to winning ways after suffering defeat in four of their previous five NHL games? They also haven’t been strong against the Eastern Conference teams as they have with the West.

Meanwhile, the Penguins are on course to have the best road record in the Eastern Conference with a 12-5-3 record, so let’s break down the NHL odds for this matchup.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Monday, January 17, 2022 – 10:00 PM EST at T-Mobile Arena

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins managed to scrap out a 2-1 overtime win in their previous NHL game against the San Jose Sharks. It was a rare, quiet night for the Pittsburgh offense but they still managed to get out of San Jose with a victory.

Tonight’s game ends a five-game stretch on the road for this team and they will be eager to make it a strong one against this Vegas team. They have only ever played three away games to Vegas, winning the previous encounter 4-3 but lost the first two games 2-1 and 7-3.

Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas have been struggling as of late going 1-2-2, since losing Max Pacioretty they have won just two of their previous six games. Prior to his loss, they won nine of 12 games and Pacioretty put up 16 points in those twelve games.

Luckily for Vegas, they still hold a three-point lead in the Pacific Division, with the L.A Kings moving in on them having played one game less. It’s been a six-day rest period for the Golden Knights and one has to wonder if they will come into this game a little rusty. It’s also been since the 25th of October that Vegas lost three games in a row, for a total of 35 games.

Penguins vs. Golden Knights Betting Predictions

Having now only scored four goals in their previous two games, we expect the Penguins little offensive lull will be gone tonight and we will see some goals from them, for this reason, we are going to take a look at their team total of 2.5 goals at -130.

We know it’s a lot of juice but given they have been averaging 3.2 goals on the road this season and the home team has allowed 3.5 on average on home ice.

We do also like the fact that they are “due” to get back on track sooner or later, it makes sense to take this play just based on their offensive output this season. Vegas don’t set up to defend, they attack first and know that most nights they are going to give up 2/3 goals.

We love this NHL pick because the Penguins can lose the game but once we see three goals we cash. Also, we expect the game to go over the total here so the over 6.0 could also be worth a bet.

NHL Pick: Penguins Team Total Over 2.5 Goals (-130) at BetOnline
