We have a total mismatch tonight between the red-hot Florida Panthers and the team in free fall right now the Edmonton Oilers. What way is this one going to play out? Well, let’s just say an Edmonton win would be a surprise.

Florida come into tonight’s game with a 26-8-5 record, compared to the Oilers 18-15-2. Will the Panthers bounce back after their defeat last time out? And, can Edmonton pick up their first win in seven?

Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers

Florida Panthers

The Panthers are a very strong team again this year and as of right now have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, although they do have two games more to play on the leaders Tampa Bay, essentially their faith in their own hands if they want to come out of the Eastern Conference as number one seed.

The Panthers don’t lose very often and that 5-1 loss to the Calgary Flames last time out was just their second loss in their previous ten games. The offense has not been an issue for the Panthers who ranked 2nd in the league with 4.05 goals per game, the defense, however, has allowed the 19th most amount of goals.

We predicted this team to win the Stanley Cup at preseason NHL odds of +2500, they are now into as low as +700 with some sportsbooks.

Edmonton Oilers

You would not believe us if we told you that this team started with a 5-0 record and are now sitting all the way down in 12th place in the Western Conference and have lost six of their previous seven home games and their one win came against another poor team in the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Oilers are playing some poor hockey right now and even their offense (who often pull them out of a hole) are only averaging 2.57 goals per game across their previous 14. Their goaltenders have been allowing four goals per game across their previous 14 also, which means their offense would have to score five a night and not even a high scoring offense is that sustainable. Both these teams are similar in the sense that they rely mostly on their offense and scoring ability.

Panthers vs. Oilers Betting Predictions

Although the Panthers have just picked up 15 points on the road this season, their opponents have only seen 20 points on home ice. The Panthers also come into this game with a much healthier roster than Edmonton and with the home team seeming to be down men and in free fall.

They are looking defeated before games even start these days with some low morale. Florida on the other hand is looking for a bounce-back win straight away after a tough loss to Calgary. Stopping their five-game winning streak.

They do struggle on the road but we think they get the win here in this one. However, -150 is a lot to lay for a road team so we are looking at the Panthers to win the most periods at +100.
