Florida Panthers vs. St. Louis Blues

Tuesday, December 07, 2021 – 08:00 PM EST at Enterprise Center

Panthers Offensive Juggernauts

The Florida Panthers have a wealth of offensive talent this season and they have been scoring goals for fun so far this season. The Panthers have been averaging a league second-best 3.83 goals per game, and most of this has been without Alexander Barkov.

The Panthers have managed to put 14 goals upon their current three-game winning streak. Sam Reinhart has seen six points scored in the Panthers' previous three games and Florida now have a total of 13 players hitting 10 or more points on the season with Johnathan Huberdeau leading the way with 29 points in total.

As strong as the Panthers have been, their results on the road have been beyond poor and they are currently on a 0-6 road streak. They will hope to break that trend here tonight.

St. Louis Blues Have Many Injuries

Following their lively start to the season the Blues were tipped by many to regress, following a nice winning streak at the start of the season, and going 8-2 they have since dropped massively in the past month with a record of 5-7-2.

More importantly, however, the reason the Panthers are juiced heavily as road favorites is due to the amount of Blues players that are unavailable for tonight’s game, yes, the Panthers have injuries also but their roster depth is much better than the Blues and the fact that St. Louis will also be without Jordan Bennington in the net, this is a concern.

Although Ville Husso saved 48 of 51 shots on Saturday in Florida against the Panthers, he will do well to put those sort of numbers up again. He has had his best NHL season to date, putting up a save percentage of 929%.

Team Trends

Trends should never be your main source of information when it comes to making your NHL betting picks, they are merely guidelines and mostly irrelevant information but nonetheless can be interesting to read.

Florida Panthers

  • The total has gone over in 4 of Florida's last 5 games.
  • Florida are 7-2 in their last 9 games.
  • Florida are 0-6 in their last 6 games on the road.

St. Louis Blues

  • The total has gone over in 5 of St. Louis' last 7 games against Florida.
  • St. Louis are 4-9 in their last 13 games.
  • St. Louis are 4-1 in their last 5 games at home.

What Are the Betting Odds and Current Lines?

Moneyline: Although the Panthers are 0-6 in their previous six road games, we are seeing them at -135 road favorites. The St. Louis Blues are home underdogs at moneyline odds (+122).

Total: The total line for this game has been set at 6.0 with the overcoming in at a highly juiced -115 and the under is best priced at +103 with the top-rated sportsbooks.

Puck Line: The puck line on the Panthers to cover the -1.5 is best priced at +180 and the Blues to cover the spread is coming in at odds of -210.

Betting Prediction

Although the last game went into overtime down in Florida, they were the much better team all around and the shot count will tell you that as they had a total of 51 shots compared to the Blues 25. The Blues are going to receive similar treatment at home here as they have failed to have the most shots in 6 of their previous 7 NHL games.

The Panthers have won the shot count in 5 of their last 7 NHL games and are averaging a league joint-high 36.7 shots per game. As well as the fact they are a much better team right now and the Blues are missing some key players so we can't see anything other than a Panthers win here.

The value on the puck line at -1.5 for odds of +180 is a much better value than -145 on the road. No team should be bet that low to win on the road in this league. For your NHL pick, take the Panthers -1.5 for half a unit risk.
