NHL Pick: Steven Stamkos Over 3.5 Shots (-125) at Heritage Sports (visit our Heritage Sports Review)

After sweeping the board last night going 3-0 for our player props, we are excited to be back tonight with some more NHL picks. Although we have nine games on the NHL betting board today, a lot of matchups didn’t take our fancy for player props, however, we did manage to find two matchups that we are looking to target.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Tuesday, February 21, 2023 – 07:00 PM EST at Amalie Arena
Steven Stamkos (Lightning)
Over/Under Shots
- Goals Scored: 25
- Goals Assisted: 34
- Shots Per Game: 3.41
The Anaheim Ducks travel to Tampa Bay tonight as the league’s worst team defensively having given up an average of 4.16 goals per game and allowed an eye-watering 39.47 shots per game, which is by far the worst in the entire NHL right now.
Steven Stamkos has been the Tampa Bay Lightnings' top shot-taker this season hitting 3.41 shots per game. In the previous game in which Stamkos faced Anaheim he registered a total of six shots (on the road) and when playing on a Tuesday Stamkos has averaged 4 shots per game, his second most productive day of the week with Wednesday being his most productive, averaging 5 shots per game.
Given the fact Stamkos only registered one shot last time out, we would be shocked to see the Ducks keep him quiet again. Lay the -125 on Stamkos to see 4+ shots in this NHL matchup.

NHL Pick: Steven Stamkos Over 3.5 Shots (-125) at Heritage Sports
Brayden Point (Lightning)
Over/Under Assists
- Goals Scored: 32
- Goals Assisted: 28
- Shots Per Game: 3.0
Although Brayden Point has scored more goals than assists, we like the value for him to see an assist tonight better than his goalscoring odds. Point has been on fire since the start of 2023 when it comes to assisting goals having now registered 12 assists in his previous 20 games. Moreover, he has been most dominant assisting against Western Conference teams and specifically against teams in the Pacific Division (which Anaheim is in).
Point has seen 65% of his assists come against Western Conference teams and 55% of those have come against Pacific Division teams. Ironically not registering one yet against the Ducks this season, let’s hope tonight is the night. We expect the Lightning to put up a few goals in this NHL matchup. The Ducks have lost 6 of their previous 7 games and we can’t see that getting any better anytime soon.
NHL Pick: Brayden Point Over 0.5 Assists (-115) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Buffalo Sabres
Tuesday, February 21, 2023 – 07:30 PM EST at KeyBank Center
Tage Thompson (Sabres)
Anytime Goalscorer
- Goals Scored: 36
- Goals Assisted: 35
- Shots Per Game: 3.92
One of the league's newest stars this season has been the Buffalo Sabres center Tage Thompson. He is the league’s third-highest goalscorer and has even bagged himself not one but two hat-tricks so far this season.
Thompson has scored a goal in 25 of his 54 games played this season, odds wise this comes to -110 so we are more than happy to jump on Thompson to score anytime tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs at NHL odds of +150.
His odds are most likely this high because the Leafs are one of the better teams defensively and he is playing on the road. With that said, he did register 9 shots against the Leafs last time he faced them and didn’t manage to score.
He has also scored 19 goals on the road compared to 17 at home (same number of games played) and Tuesdays have been his best day in front of goals having scored 10 times on a Tuesday with an average of one goal per game.
NHL Pick: Tage Thompson Anytime Goalscorer (+150) at BetOnline
