There are plenty of games you can get your teeth into and plenty of winner NHL picks to be found, but we have found today’s matchups just a little harder than in recent days.

That said, the joy about so many games being on is there are always one or two matchups that we will like, and we are concentrating solely on these two games today.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Thursday, November 10, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at PNC Arena

Martin Necas (Carolina Hurricanes)

  • Over 0.5 Assists

The Carolina Hurricanes traveled to Florida last night to take on the Panthers and they suffered a somewhat embarrassing 3-0 shutout defeat. Now on a back-to-back but back on home ice, they will be hoping to get the better of another strong offensive team in the form of the Edmonton Oilers.

Despite being offensively strong, the Oilers are not so strong defensively and we believe the Hurricanes can and will put up a few goals tonight, especially having been shut out last time and only scoring one goal the game beforehand.

The first of our NHL prop picks is on Hurricanes' winger Martin Necas to see at least one assist tonight at +100 This is a good value bet when we consider Necas leads his team with the most assist (10 in 13 games) and the fact he is up against this Oilers' defense.

Necas had at least one assist in 7 of his opening 11 NHL games this season but has failed to do so in back-to-back games. This is the perfect scenario for him to get back on the scoreboard.

Zach Hyman (Edmonton Oilers)

  • Over 3.5 Shots

This play comes off the back of an unfortunate injury to Evander Kane, who will miss the next 3-4 months of hockey due to a nasty slit wrist injury that happened by accident from an opponent’s skating blade. Thankfully, these injuries are very rare.

One man’s misery is another man’s fortune and we say this because Kane and Zach Hyman have had pretty similar shot stats this season as Hyman has 51 in total and Kane 50. What we are expecting is Hyman to be asked to step up his shots per game due to the injury to Kane.

Not that we expect him to go gung-ho but a small rise in his shot average is likely and Hyman has averaged 3.5 shots per game this season so far. He could push it up to 3.8 or so now that Kane is on the injury list for an extended period of time.

Even without the injury to Kane and our “perceived” angle here, we would never put anybody off Hyman to see 4+ shots on most nights, but without Kane on the ice, it’s an added angle we like. You know we love a bounce-back spot and Hyman was on a hot streak for a while hitting over 3.5 shots for 7 games in a row but has failed to do so in his past two.

Carolina is tough and has the 3rd least amount of shots against this season, but somebody’s got to shoot right? Hyman had 3 and 4 shots against the Hurricanes respectively last season.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Los Angeles Kings

Thursday, November 10, 2022 - 10:30 PM EST at Crypto.com Arena

Trevor Moore (Los Angeles Kings)

  • Anytime Goalscorer

It's Thursday and it's Trevor Moore time, although we are looking at a slightly different angle today as the best sportsbooks have finally caught up to Moore’s shot total odds as he is juiced to -140 to see 3+ shots tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks on home ice.

We like his shots total over but seeing as we were getting -120 for the majority of the season, it feels wrong to lay this kind of juice, at least tonight in a potential regression spot. Instead, we are going for Moore to find the back of the net at some really nice NHL odds of+350 with BetOnline.

Moore has the most shots on this Kings' team yet has only scored two goals giving him a 4.1% success rate. Although Moore has never been a prolific goalscorer, his success rate is lower than his career average, and he is taking more shots than ever these days, meaning we should expect to see him score some more goals.

It’s a long season and Moore will no doubt go on a hot streak sooner or later.
