It’s super Saturday, and we are targeting the NHL’s top players to put up some big performances today.

Matthew Tkachuk returns to the ice tonight for Florida, whilst we are expecting a big performance from Connor McDavid as well as shots in the Carolina vs. Colorado matchup.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers

Saturday, November 12, 2022 – 04:00 PM EST at FLA Live Arena

Matthew Tkachuk (Florida Panthers)

  • Over 3.5 Shots

After serving his two-game suspension for high sticking, Florida winger Matthew Tkachuk is eligible to play tonight against the Edmonton Oilers.

As we know the Oilers are consistently bad at defending, which isn’t ideal when coming up against this Florida Panthers team on home ice with Tkachuk back on the ice for the first time in six days.

This looks like a great bounce-back spot for Tkachuk following that suspension served and we are very much loving his shots total to go over tonight.

It's human instinct for a forward-thinking player to want to get stuck in and take plenty of shots when they have a missed a couple of games.

The Pick

Tkachuk had 10 of his first 12 games see 4+ game shots, we are very confident he can do so here against such a weak team defensively.

Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers)

  • Over 1.5 Points

As equally as Tkachuk will be fancying his chances of a big offensive performance tonight, so will his counterpart and the league’s top points scorer Connor McDavid. The Panthers aren’t the best of defensive teams themselves and have allowed three goals per game. In fact, both these teams score more than 3 goals per game on average and allow at least 3 on average.

The Oilers center has picked up 31 points in just 15 games played and has been red-hot these days, seeing 2+ points in 8 of his previous 9 games. McDavid has also scored both a goal and assisted a goal in the same game in 7 of his previous 9.

Essentially, it’s been really hard for teams to stop McDavid this season and it’s going to be another tough task for this Florida team.

The Pick

We usually don’t like laying money for over 1.5 player points for our betting picks, but McDavid is special and this is a good spot.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Colorado Avalanche

Saturday, November 12, 2022 – 09:00 PM EST at Ball Arena

Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche)

  • Over 4.5 Shots

We have a big matchup here between the Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes as we are looking at the Avalanche's star player and one of the NHL’s best players, Nathan MacKinnon, to see over 4.5 shots.

MacKinnon has seen 5+ game shots in 5 of his previous 7 games. Last season he had five and six shots when facing the Hurricanes and we believe he is in a strong position to take shots today.

The Pick

The Hurricanes are a tough team defensively, having allowed the 3rd least amount of shots against per game, but MacKinnon has the ability to see some shots here. It helps our cause a lot that many of the Avalanche shot-takers are unavailable for the game through injury meaning more shooting responsibility should fall on MacKinnon’s shoulders.

NHL Pick: Nathan MacKinnon Over 4.5 Shots (-135) at BetOnline

Brent Burns (Carolina Hurricanes)

  • Over 2.5 Shots

Brent Burns has been hammering his 3+ shots line this season, going over the total in 10 of 14 games this season, and he has taken the most shots on this Carolina Hurricanes team.

Burns did only manage two shots last time out, which is even more of a reason why we are liking him to get his shooting gloves back on. Prior to him having less than 3 shots last night, he had seen 3+ shots in six of his previous seven games.

The Pick

We don’t know why the NHL odds boards haven’t adjusted Burns' lines to 3.5 here, he has been averaging exactly four shots per game this season and if your favorite sportsbooks offer an alternative line, we suggest taking it for plus money.
